REGULAR MEETING - NOVEMBER 14, 1960
A regular meeting of the Commieaioners Court of Brazos County, Texas, was
held in the Commissioners Courtroom in the courthouse, at Bryan, Texas, beginning at
10 00 A. M., on Monday, November 14, 1960, with the following present.
W C. Davis, County Judge, Presiding,
Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct 1,
George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct 2, and
W. A Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct 4
The Court received, approved, and ordered filed as aubaditted the following

Mr Philip Norton, Architect of Bryan, Texas, appeared before Court, at its
request, in regards to the installation of an elevator in the Main Building of the
Co urthouse. On motion made, seconded and unanimously passed, Mr. Norton was authorized
to prepare plans and specifications for such elevator and obtain bids therefor relative to
the Court's determination as to the feasibility of installing such elevator. r
The matter of use by the Area Stabilization Committee of an office in the
Courthouse was considered and was passed pending the determination of whether-or not an
elevator would be installed in the Courthouse which would make available to them the
third floor of the Main Building should they decide to use it. On motion by Commissioner
Dunn, seconded by Commissioner Stasny, it was unanimously voted that the A. S. C. not be
authorized to use the Commissioners' offices in the Courthouse. •.k,
, County Judge Davis laid before the Court the following letter received by him
from Mr. C. H Bates

Dear Judge Davis i
I am writing about the tax statement for 1960 from Mr Raymond
Buckanan on property held by the Community House, Inc. The
property is located at the corner of County Road and Eleanor
Street in 8ollege Station and listed as Lots 1 and 5 of Block 9
in the George McCullough subdivision _
r•. We are asking for a tax-exempt status on this property since the
Community House is chartered as a non-profit, service organization.
e•_ Oita primary operation is to provide a kindergarten-and nursery ,
service for colored families where the wives are employed The
u~ t operation is not self-supporting but is subsidized annually by the r t
College Station United Chest It is not expected to require as
much support from these €unde in years ahead but it will remain
a non-profit venture
If our governing board should execute an affidavit concerning this `
property, I would appreciate furthRr instruction from you.

On motion made, duly seconded exid unanimously adopt#d, the-Court voted to
comply with the above regpest, , , ,
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay all
bills which have been properly filed and approved
Whereupon the Court adjourned.
