The County Judge presented a request from Mrs. Fannie J. Taylor, Brazos County Negro
`
Home Demonstration Agent for the use of two school buses to carry the Negro 4-H Club
group to the County Camp at Huntsville, Texas, on July 22, 1959, and on motion duly made,
seconded and unanimously passed, the Court voted to request the County School Superin-
tendent to furnish two school buses for this purpose.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously passed, the official bond of Billy James Sling
as a Licensed State Land Surveyor was approved.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, and with the distinct understanding
'
that Brazos County does not become liable for the construction or maintenance of any
public roads by reason thereof, the Court authorized the County Clerk to accept for
filing and recording a plat and dedication of Oakhill Subdivision as submitted by George
R. McCulloch. This approval is made with the understanding that Brazos County does not
become liable for the construction or maintenance of any roads dedicated to the County
by such plat and dedication.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court adopted a resolution calling
on the State Representative, B.H. Dewey, Jr., and the State Senator, W.T. Moore, to oppos

H.B. 7, Amendment No. 1, which provides for the County Tax Collector to receive 2% for

the handling of the sales tax on automobiles in lieu of the 5% now retained by the Tax

Collector for this service.

It is found by the Commissioners Court that the road equipment in Precinct No. 4 is not
at this time needed for the building and upkeep of county roads, and on motion duly secon-
ded and unanimously passed, the Commissioner, W.A. Staeny was authorized to build a tank
for John Marino at the rate of $8.50 per hour, same being for soil conservation purposes.
It is further found and determined by the Court that the road equipment and machinery
in Precinct No. 2 is not at this time needed for building and upkeep of county roads, and
seconded and unanimously passed

The Sheriff's department made known to the Court that the Jail was infested
with roaches and submitted to the Court two bids as follows for the extermination
of such roaches International Exterminator Corp., Bryan. Texas - $100.00 for ex-
terminating roaches or twice a month service in controling roaches in county jail
for sum of $25.00 per month on annual basis Oliver Goldsmith Co., Bryan. Texas -
$50.00 for first treatment and $17.00 per month, or $135.00 for 3 treatments in one
year. On motion duly made, seconded and passed by vote of 4 - 1 (Commissioner Stas-
ny voting "no"). the Sheriff was authorized to employ the Oliver Goldsmith Company
to exterminate such roaches from the jail on their proposal of $50.00 for first
treatment and $17.00 per month.
On motion duly seconded and unamimously passed. the Court voted to authorize the
Sinclair Pipe,Line Company to encase its pipe lines on Farm-to-Market Highway 2513
for the estimated cost of $3,529.64. and the Magnolia Pipe Line Company to encase
its pipe line on FM Highway 60 for the estimated cost of $1.000.00.
On motion duly seconded and unamimouely passed, the Court voted to hUthbriW
Raymond B. Buchanan. Tax Collector-Assessor, to enter into the following agreement
with the C. R. Law Tax Records, Inc ,
"Whereas, Raymond B. Buchanan, Assessor-Collector of faxes for Brazos
County. Texas. did enter into a contract with C. R. Law Tax Records,
Inc. on the 11th da) of May, A. D. 1959, whereby C. R Law Tax Records,
Inc. did agree and bind its self to prepare and compile a Delinquent
Tax Record for Brazos Count}, Texas, under Senate Bill No ldl, Acts
of the Fifty-Fourth Legislature, Regular Session, for the years 1919
to 1957, both inclusive, which said contract was duly and regularly

for Brazos County, Texas, and C. R. Law Tax Records, Inc. to amend said contract
to extend the period to include the years 1919 to 1958, both inclusive and have r

desire of this court to make such amendment to the contract, IT IS THEREFORE

Brazos County and of the subdivision of

enabling the freeholders thereof to determine whether horses and cattle shall be permitted
to run at large therein, and, it appearing to the Court that such petition is in due form,
that no election for such purpose has ever been carried in said subdivision. that no ele-

cation to determine daid question has been held therein within 1E months prior to the filin
of such petition. that the hereinafter described subdivision stands designated as one withi
which such an election may be held, and
that such petition should be granted, it is accord-

whether cattle and horses shall be permitted to run at large in such subdivision. to wit,
Commissioners Precinct 1 of Brazos County. Texas. which is described more par-
ticularly as follows
Beginning at the intersection of Turkey Creek and Brazos River on the north
thence in an easterly direction along line of Turkey Creek, Country Club
Lake. Carters Creek. Sleepy Hollow Road, Wickson Creek to intersection of
Navasota River on the east, thence in a southerly direction along line
of Navasota River to where it runs into the Brazos River on the south,
thence in a westerly and northerly direction along line of Brazos River
to where it intersects Turkey Creek on the north.
Such election shall be held and conducted and the returns thereof made in accordance
with the laws regulating general actions, in so far as the same are applicable, and the
laws applicable to stock law electionsof such character, and the County Judge shall issue
the order therefore and cause public notice thereof to be given as provided by law.
On motion duly seconded and unamimously adopted, the Court voted to pay all bills whin
have been properly filed and approved.

A special meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County. Texas. was held
in the Commissioners Courtroom in the courthouse, at Bryan, beginning at 9.00 O'clock A.M.
on Monday. July 20. 1959, with the following present.
W. C. Davis. County Judge, presiding,
Raymond A. Nolan. Commissioner of Precinct Number 1.
George Dunn. Commissioner of Precinct Number 2.
Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct Number 3.
W. A. Stasny. Commissioner of Precinct Number 4, and
A. B. Syptak, County Clerk.
The County Judge submitted the proposed budget for the fiscal (calendar) year of 1960
carrying total proposed expenditures and reserves of $572,400.00 with a recommended tax
rate of 95E per $100.00 valuation, Whereupon Commissioner Porterfield moved that the bud-
get be accepted and public hearing set thereon, and Commissioner Nolan seconded this motion,
which was unanimously adopted.
Motion was made, duly seconded, and unanimously adopted. by which it was ordered that
the proposed budget for 1960 be filed with the County Clerk and set down for public hearing
in the Commissioners Courtroom in the Courthouse at Bryan. Toxas, at 10 00 a. m.. on
Thursday, August 20. 1959. and that public advertisement of this hearing be made by pub-
lishing the following notice in the Bryan Daily Eagle of Bryan, fexas, once each week for
throe weeks prior to the public hearing,
