Elkins the extra pay for serving as Veterans' Service Officer effective January 1, 1959, and to pay Elkins' automobile expenses on business trips in his cavacity as Veterans's Service Officer but such expenses not to exceed the amount of 820 00 per month. On motion d41y seconded and unanimously passed, the Court voted to pay all bills for the month of January, 1959• Whereupon, the Court adjourned. SPECIAL MEETING - FEBRUARY 16, 1959 A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Courthouse at Bryan, Texas, beginning at 9 o'clock a.m. on Mondayo February 16, 1959, with the following present , W.C. Davis, County Judge, Presiding, Raymond A Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct No 1, George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct No 2, W.A Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct No 4; and A.B. Syptak, County Clerk The special purpose of the meeting was to discuss the proposed widening of State -Highway No. 6 South from College Station to the Navasota River. After much discussion, tit was unanimously decided to invite Mr C.B. Thames and Mr. Joseph M. McLain of the Highway Department to meet with the Court for further discussion of this project. On motion made, seconded and unanimously passed, Clyde J. Porterfield was authorized to purchase a used 1951 Dodge truck from the Bryan Cotton Oil and Fertilizer Company for the sum of $375 00. There being no further business, the Court adjourned. a a~ er o +r a a o e a a a n o SPECIAL MEETING - FEBRUARY 18, 1959 A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Courthouse at Bryan, Texas, beginning at 9 o'clock a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 1959; with the following present, W.C. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct No. 1; George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct No. 2; Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct No. 3, W.A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct No. 4, and A.B. Syptak, County Clerk. The purpose of the meeting was to meet with Mr C B. Thames and Mr. J.M. McLaibg,of the State Highway Department relative to the widening of State Highway No. 6. Both Mr. Thames and Mr. McLain expressed their opinion that this work was badly needed and had been approved by the State Highway Department. They further stated that such project would cost the state approximately $1,500,000 00, and that the State Highway Department had requested that same be let for bids in April. Commissioner Nolan reported that the cost to the County of securing right of ways and costs of fencing would be approximately .$10,000.00. After much discussion, a motion was made, seconded and unanimously passed and adopted by which the Commissioners' Court accepted Project No. RW 50-1-27 and RW 50-2-25 for the improvements to State Highway No. 6 from College Station to Grimes County line with the understanding that the County pays 1/2 of the expenses necessary to secure the required right of ways and 112 of the expense necessary in moving fences along such right of way, and the State of Texas pay 112 of such costs and expenses. Davis, County Judge, Presiding, Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct No. 1; George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct No. 2; Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct No. 31 W.A. Stasny, Commissioner of Precinct No. 4; and A.B. Syptak, County Clerk. After an opening prayer by the County Judge, the Court received, approved and or- dered filed as submitted the following reports; Mies Emily Ritter, County Home Demonstration Agent, for the month of February, 1959 Brazos County Health Unit for the month of February, 1959. William T. Sistrunk, County Agricultural Agent for the month of February, 1959. B. Loyd Joyce, Assistant County Agent, for the month of February, 1959. Mrs. Fannie J. Taylor, Brazos County Negro Home Demonstration Agent, for the month of February, 1959. E.O. Pace, Negro County Agricultural Agent, for the month of February, 1959. B.V. Elkins, County Veterans Service Officer, for the month of February, 1959. Brazos County Welfare Board, by B.V.
