Perrone, Justice of the Peace of Precinct 8, and Arthur Corge , as Justice of the Peace, Precinct 6, Brazos County, Texas, and approved the official bonds of such Justices of the Peace, and ordered them recorded as such official bond; . • In connection with the acquisition of right-of-way for Farm to Market Highway No. 974, a motion was made, duly seconded and unanimously passed to authorize con- demnation proceedings against Emory Smith and wife, Allie Smith, and Nick Philipello and wife, Nora Philipello, for the undivided interrst in the tracts of land required by the State Highway Engineers' Survey. On motion made, seconded and unanimously passed, Commissioner Dunn was authorized to employ the services of a surveyor to survey a tract of land in his precinct no longer needed by the County and which is contemplated being sold by the County. Preliminary to the selection of an official county depository for the bienniu 1959-1960, and in accordance with the provisions of Article 2544, of the Revised il St t s f T a Ci t d d b i C , a s, as amen v u o ex e , y unan e mous vote, the ourt authorized the County Judge to advertise for bids from interested banks by publication the follow- ing notice in the Bryan Daily Earle once each week for three weeks prior to the re- gular February meeting of the Court "NOTICE TO BIDDERS FOR COUNTY DEPOSITORY Notice is hereby given that Brazos County will receive bids up to ten o'clock a.m , on Monday, February 9, 1959, for a despoitory for the biennium of 1959-60, for official county funds, including those of • the common school districts All funds must be protected by bonds and pledges of cash or securities, as well as by provisions of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Mr. Morgan Smith appeared before the Court and solicited the assistance of _ ' " •low r the Commissioners Court on behalf of the Big Creek Water Conservation Improvement a District On motion made, seconded and unanimously passed, the Court passed a resolution approving such project and urging the State Soil Conservation Board to approve the Big Creek watershed for flood control, and the Court pledged its full • support in the maintaining of such flood control improvements after construction. Elkins the extra pay for serving as Veterans' Service Officer effective January 1, 1959, and to pay Elkins' automobile expenses on business trips in his caDa,-ity as Veterans's Service Officer but such expenses not to exceed the amount of $20 00 per month. • On motion dGly seconded and unanimously passed, the Court voted to pay all bills for the month of January, 1959• Whereupon, the Court adjourned. After much discussion,,, .it was unanimously decided to invite Mr. C.H. Thames and Mr. Joseph M McLain of-the ^ Highway Department to meet with the Court for further discussion of this project. On motion made, seconded and unanimously passed, Clyde J. Porterfield was,authorized to purchase a used 1951 Dodge truck from the Bryan Cotton 011 and Fertilizer Company for the sum of $375.00. >y .
