1 Having given due consideration to the matter, a motion was made and duly
seconded that the resignation be accepted as of August 5, 1958. This motion was adopted
by the affirmative votes of County Judge Ware and Commissioners Nolan, Dunn and Porterfield,
with Comnissioner Burlin voting "no".
Thereupon came the matter of the appointment of a Tax Assessor-Collector to serve
until the next General Election. Whereupon a notion was made and duly seconded that Raymond
B. Buchanan, presently serving as Chief Deputy in the office, be appointed Tax AsS038or-Collector
to serve until the next General Election, subject to his giving acceptable surety bonds to
the County Judge in the amount of $22,000.00 to cover County and local taxes, and to the
Governor of Texas in the amount of $7,000.00 to cover State taxes. The foregoing motion was
adopted by the affirmative votes of Commissioners Nolan, Damn and Porterfield with Commissioner
Burlin voting "no" and County Judge Clare voting "present".
Whereupon the Court adjourned.

Special. Moetinr, - August 6. 1958.
A special meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County. Texas, was held in
the Commissioners Courtroom in the courthouse, at Bryan, beginning at MOO o'clock a. m.,
on Wednesday, August 6, 19582 with the following presents
A. S. Ware, County Judge, presiding;
Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct No. 1;
George Durm, Commissioner of Precinct No. 2;
Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct No. 3;
Newton Burlin, Commissioner of Precinct No. 4; and
A. B. Syptak, County Clerk.
Raymond B. Buchanan, heretofore appointed Tax Assesecr-Collector of Brazos County,
Texas, in succession to Mrs. Marjorie S. Burkhalter, reamed, appeared before the Court and
presented his official bonds which were examined and approted as made by the St. Paul Fire and
Marine Insurance Company as follows:
To the County Judge for County and local taxes
in the amount of $22,000.00,
To the Governon of Texas for State taxes in the
amount of $7,000.00.
Thereupon the County Judge administered the official oath of office to Mr. Buchanan,
and he was formally installed as Tax Assessor-Collector of Brazos County, Texas, effective an
this date.
By pre-arrangement, the Court met with District HighwaaV Engineer C. B. Thames and
his Assistant John A. Blasienz for the purpose of agreeing upon road projects in Brazos County
for consideration by the State Highway Department for the forthcoming biennium. After discussion
and upon separate motions, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court agreed upon and
recommended to the State in order of listing, the following projects:
First. Extension of Farm-to-41arket Highway 1687 from Old San Antonio L
Road to Farm-to-Market Highway 50, approximately 4 miles.
Second. Fa ttensicn of Farm-to-Market Highway 2154 from Wellborn'to
Millican, approximately 8 miles.
Third. Extension of Farm-to-Market 974 to Old San Antonio Road,
approximately 4-1/2 miles.
Fourth. Prom end of present Farm-to-Market 1688 to Thompson Creek;
approximately 2-1/2 miles.
Whereupon the Court adjourned.
