Mr. J. M. Tacker of Bryan, appeared before the Court and presented facts and
figures relating to a plan of group insurance which his company would male available to
Brazos County employees if 75 per cent or more of them agreed to the plan and were willing
for the monthly premiums to be withheld from their compensation.
After discussion of the matter, a motion was made, duly seconded and unanimously
adopted, by which the Court agreed to adopt such a plan if 75 per cant or more of the
County employees accepted the plan which Mr. Tacker and his associates would present
directly to the individual County employees.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court appointed 8. Lloyd
Joyce, Assistant County Agricultural Agent of Brazos County, to be a member of the Brazos
County Veterans Land Committee, to fill the vacancy caused by the recent death of Wallace
M. Bimbrough. This County Committee is appointed and maintained under authority of
Article 5421-m, of the Revised Civil Statutes, as amended.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adorned, the Court voted to pay all bills
which have been ;properly filed and approved.
Whereupon the Court adjourned.

A special meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Taxas, was held
in the Commissioners Courtroom in the courthouse, at Bryan, beginning at 9:00 o'clock
a. m., on Wednesday, July 30, 19580 with the following present:
A. S. Ware, County Judge, presiding,
Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct Number 1;
George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct Number 2,
Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct Number 31
Newton Burlin, Commissioner of Precinct Number 41 and
A. S. Syptak, County Clerk.
The County Judge submitted the proposed budget for the fiscal. (calendar)
year of 1959 carrying total proposed expenditures and reserves of $580,450.00 with a
recorded tax rate of $1.00 per $100.00 valuation. Whereupon Commissioner Burliei
moved that the budget be accepted and public hearing set thereon, and Commissioner
'Nolan seconded this motion, which was unanimously adopted.
Motion was made, duly seconded, and unanimously adopted, by which it was
ordered that the proposed budget for 1959 be filed with the County Clerk and set
down for public hearing in the Commissioners Courtroom in the Courthouse at Bryan, Texas,
at 10:00 a. m., on Thursday, August 28, 1958, and that public advertisement of this
hearing be made by publishing the follaring notice in the Bryan Daily Eagle of Bryan,
Texas, once each week for three weeks prior to the public hearing;

It appearing that the proposal made by Cade Motor company of Bryan, Texas,
for $1,595.00, was the lowest and boot proposition availablep cp motion duly seconded
and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to purchase from Cade Motor Company of Bryan,
Tema, one new 1958 Ford F-100 Pick-up truck at $1,745.00, lose trade-in allowance of
$150.00 for a used 1950 Dodge Pick-up, Motor No. 717230731, Certificate of Title No.
6556713, with net difference balance to be pwid by County of $1,595.00.
The Court received and approved the report of the Brazos County Health
Unit for the month of June, 1958.
Whereupon the Court adjourned.

The purpose of this special meeting was to consider and act upon the
resignation of Mrs. Marjorie S. Burkhalter as Tax Assessor-Collector of Brazos
County, Toms, dated July 17, 1958, and delivered to the County Judge on the
morning of August 1, 1958, along with a letter dated July 31, 1958, from John !i.
Barron, County Attorney of Brazos County, Texas, and a transcript of notes of
proceedings as certified by Mrs. Mildred B. Carpenter, Official Court Reports;,on `
