iu Mr. M. T. Jones of Bryan appeared before the Court and presented a plat and
dedication of a subdivision of a tract in the S. F. Austin Survey No. 10 (Abstract No.
pN~ 63), lying outside the corporate limits of Bryan, executed by M. T. Jones and wife

Mande Jones and Marian E. Janes and wife Ruth Jones, dated January 20, 1958, entitled
q= OAK ACH89e, approved by the City Engineer and the City Planning & Zoning Commission
of Bryan on February 4, 19582 and otherwise apparently in acceptable fora. At the regm

of Mr. Jones, and upon motion duly seconded and unanimously approved, the Court voted to
S a the said at and dedication for official recording, plat and authorized the County
~f^ Clerk to record it; but it was expressly specified that Brazos County does not in any

rx• manner agree to maintain or improve any of the roads and streets therein shown.
The Court received and considered the following communication and order from

Gentlemen:
aM I an enclosing a copy of an order that I have this day entered,
# increasing the salary of Mrs. Mildred Carpenter, the official
court reporter for the 85th Judicial District Court. While I
realize that I have not mentioned this matter to any of you
t• gentlemen, I do not feel it necessary to do so for the reason
that this salary increase will in no wise affect the County
budget of either County, an Mrs. Carpenter's salary is paid
out of the fury fund, and I know that this fund has a wholesome
surplus in each County. The increase will amount to approximately
eight hundred dollars a year more money for Brazos County and
approximately four hundred dollars a year more money for Robertson
County.
I made this order because I feel that Mrs. Carpenter well
deserves the increase, as she has been most efficient and
entirely satisfactory, and not only meets with my approval
r but the lawyers of the two Counties have oomplimented her to
t me on numerous occasions, and I do not feel at all out of
step nor apologetic to anyone, as I am only bringing her
salary an a commensurate basis with most of the other County
officials.

COUNTY OF BRAZ(G
I, W. T. McDonald, District Judge of the 85th Judicial
District of Texas, hereby fix and determine the salary of Mrs.
Mildred Carpenter, official shorthand reporter for said 85th
Judicial District of Texas, at six thousand dollars per year,
beginning July 1, 1958, pursuant to authority vested in me under
the statute. This salary, as required by law, is to be divided
between Brazos and Robertson Counties according to population of
the two Counties shown by the last official census. The 1950
census shows 38,390 population for Brazos County, and 19,908
population for Robertson County, so that the portion of the salary
to be paid Brazos County amounts to 38.390 of the total sum,
58,298
and the portion to be paid by Robertson County mounts to 19.908

the said sums to be paid monthly in twelve equal installments
from each of the two said Counties.
This order nullifies the previous order made and entered
by this Court on January 1, 1955, recorded in Volume T, Page 531,
of the Civil Minutes of the District Court of Brazos County, Texas.

Whereupon on motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the salary of the
Court Reporter was ordered paid tram the Jury Fund effective from July 1, 1958, at the rate
of $3,960.00 per annum with the understanding that the other $2,040.00 uM be paid by
Robertson County, Texas, so as to make this salary at the rate of $6,000.00 per annum.
Whereupon the Court adjourned.

A special meeting of the Commissionerem Court was held in the Catmmissionere
Courtroom in the Courthouse at Bryan, Texas, beginning at 10s30 a, m., On Thursday,
Juns 26, 1958, with the following presentt
A. S. Ware, County Judge, presiding,
Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct No. 1=
George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct No. 21
Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct No- 3s and
Newton Burlin, Commissioner of Precinct No. 4.
The Court received formal written requests from Mrs. Marjorie E. Burkhalter, Tat
Assessor-Collector of Brazos County, Texas, on regular deputation forms, for the appointment
of deputies in the office, as followst
Raymond B. Buchanan,
Charlene Taylor,
Ethel E. Silseth,
Magpie Nowak, and
Maudelle Wilkerson.
Whereupon the motion was made, duly seconded, and unanimously adopted by which the
Court approved the appointments and authorized the County Judge to administer the official
oaths to the said appointees. +
Came on to be considered the matter of canvassing the returns received by the Court
from the Special School Election held in Brazos County Common School District Noe. 10 and 27,
on Saturday. June 14, 1958, in accordance with the following petitions and order therems
