Subject to the foregoing minor changes within totals, as motion duly seconded and tmaaiwusly adopted, the Court voted to put into effect as of January 1, 1958, the County budget for 1958, with instructions that it be strictly adhered to during the year. On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay all bins ithich have been properly filed and approved. Whersupoa the Court adjourned. Special Meeting - January 23. 1958. • A special meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Teams, was held in the Conmiasioners Courtroom in the courthouse, at Bryan, beginning at 1Ot00 o'clock a. m., on Wednesday, January 22, 1958, with the following presents A. S. Ware, County Judge, presiding, Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct Number 1; George Durst, Commissioner of Precinct Number 2, Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct Number 3; and Newton Burlin, Cotmaissioner of Precinct Number 4. The main purpose of this special meeting was to confer with District Highway Engineer C. B. Thames and his staff with reference to right-of-hrdy sought from Mrs. MA Locke for the extension of State Farm-to-Market Highway No. 2037 from Edge to intersect Farm-to-Market aiehway No. 2038 near Tabor. Mctended discussion was had with Mrs. Locke and llr. R. W. Caldwell and District Highway Fog neer C. B. Thames and his assistant J. K. McLain. The highway enginoere advised the Court that it would not be feasible to re-locate or re-design the said hi&way as it is now proposed too be routed through the Locke and Caldwell properties. The attire matter was taken under consideration for later solution. .4 On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to request the c County Auditor to check and approve strictly within available allotted funds all weekly P' r<~ s payrolls for extra help in County offices. ! S. Ware, County Judge, presiding, Raymond A. Nolen, Commissioner of Precinct Number 1, George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct Number 2j Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct Number 31 Newton Burlin, Commissioner of Precinct Number bj and A. B. Syptak, County Clerk. Mr. R. B. Butler of Bryan, appeared before the Court in his capacity as Chairman of the Area Planning Committee, and officially requested the Court to formally approve financial participation in the plane heretotbre tentatively agreed upon. The preliminary report of this Area Planning Committee is as follows: "PiII ELINARr REPORT OF THE AREA PL AIMING COUTI'Ta ON A CCUPIMMSIVE PLAN FOR THE &iYAN - COLLLGE STATION AREA A meeting was held several months ago QUM was attended by representatives from the City of College Station, the City of Bryan, A. & X. College of Texas, the Commissioners Court of Brazos County, the respective Chambers of Commerce of „ the two cities and other citizens interested in the future growth of the area. The meeting was called for the purpose of discussing problems common to the City of College Station, the City of Bryan and Texas A. & H. College occasioned by the rapid increase in the population of the two municipalities and to the necessity for developing land areas to house and service this population. Thep w 4 members prevent were advised of plane adopted by other cities including the / City of Corpus Christi to adequatuly and economically provide for expanded growth. ' Since Bryan and College Station have and will continue to have eoeeron or contiguous boundarios as they expand, plan,dng for the eventual meshing of streats, utilities and r other capital improvements seemed desirable. It was believed that this could be accts. plished by a comprehensive plan for the Bryan - College Station urea which would include Texas A. & H.
