Whereupon the motion was made, duly seconded and unanimously adopted by which
the Brazos County Commissioners Court accepted the terms of the foregoing Minute Order
No. 42977, a" agreed to provide the necessary rights-af-ray within reasonable time alter
delivery of field notes therefor. It was specified, however, that all expense incurred
for right-of-way or fencing be paid from finds available to the commissioners' precincts
In which the roads are situated.
To fLll the vacancy caused by the death of Willis 0. Edge, on motion daly
recorded and unanimously adopted, the Court appointed John H. Stockton, Sr., of Route 4,
Bryan, Texas, to serve without compensation as a member of the Bravos County Veterans
Land Committee, as authorized by Section 15, of Article 5421-m, as amended, Revised Civil
Statutes of Texas.
Whereupon the Court adjourned.

Regular Meeting - January 13. 1958.
A regular meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Texas, was
held in the Coamiesionere Courtroom in the courthouse, at Bryan, beginning at 10:00

County. After discussion and upon motion unanimously adopted, the Court voted to ask
the County Auditor to secure competitive bids for the purchase and also for the rental

Further the Court voted on motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted to ask the
County Auditor to secure competitive bids for the compilation of the delinquent tax MU of

Dr. Carlton R. Lee, Chairman of the Brazos County Youth Development Counseling
•
Committee, appeared before the Court and explained that the members of the governing bodies

of the City of Bryan and the City of College Station did not feel that it was necessary for
them to participate in further conferences as to the eventual selection of a Brazos County
Probation Officer, and that these gentlemen end the members of the Youth Counseling Committee
were, therefore, looking to the District Judge as Judge of the Juvenile Court and the County
Commissioners Court for the selection of a qualified County Probation Officer.
hr. Victor M. Ehlers, presently the Brazos County Probation Officer and Director
of the Youth Counseling Service, also appeared before the Court and stated that hie tenure
in Brazos County would officially expire on February 1, 1958, but that he would necessarily
be detained in the County for a slightly longer period, and during that time would be glad

Mr. Fred C. Seale, supervisor of maintenance for the courthouse plant, appeared
before the Court and exhibited invoices from the hinneapolie-Honeywell Regulator Company,
5440 Gulf Freeway, Houston 23, Texas, for maintenance and repair services performed on
electronic temperature control equipment in the courthouse plant and including parts and
replacements totaling $671.66. r+r. Seale reported that all of these expenses were absolutely
necessary to properly maintain and operate the various items of equipment. He further reported
•
that the Company would enter into a maintenance agreement contract for a total of $825.00 per
annum, payable in two equal installments during the year. In view of these facto, Mr. Seale
recommended that the County enter into the proffered maintenance agreement with the Company
upon its offer to allow these items to be applied on the annual contract.
After discussion and upon motion duly seconded and mmanimouely adopted, the Court
accepted Mr. Sealers recommendations and voted to enter into the maintenance agreement contract
with the Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Company, for the annual payment of $825.00, to be
made in two installments of E412.50 each, on parch 1 and September 1 of each year during the
continuation of the contract.

motion, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to allow him leave with pq for ,
three hours per week to be arranged to fit schedule for the spring semester at the A. & Me
` College of Texas, an in order that he may pursue his studies leading toward his Master's

The Court received, examined, approved and ordered filed and recorded the bond
for $2,500.00 of Jack Roberts as a Public 1Jeij~wer in and for Justice Precinct No. 4, of

Brazos Count;, Texas, dated January 4, 1958, and executed by Western Surety Company by
Jacob Be Beal, Attorney-in-Fact, with oath of office executed January 6, 1958, all as
authorized by Article 5704, of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay the
'
City of Bryan the Sum of $83.72, from the Road end Bridge Fund item of equipment and
materials for County Shop, as the coat of installing a dome street light with automatic
cutoff and-on, on 11aco Street in front of the Brazos County Shop, with the understanding
that the County will not be charged with expense of maintenance of this light or for
current consumed by it.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to equalise
the compensation of the chief deputies in the offices of the County Clark and Tax Assessor-
Collector by increasing the pay of the Chief Deputy in the Tax Assessor-Collector'e office
from $3,300.00 to $3,400.00 per annum.

On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to allocate
$600.00, for expenses of assessing taxes for the year 1958.

Special Meeting - January 22, 1958.
A special meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held
in the Conmiasioners Courtroom in the courthouse, at Bryan, beginning at 10:00 o'clock a. m.,
on Wednesday, January 22, 19589 with the following presents
A. S. Ware, County Judge, presiding,
Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct Number 1;
George Ducm, Commissioner of Precinct Number 2,
Clyde J. Porterfield, Comrsissioner of Precinct Number 3; and
Newton Burlin, Commissioner of Precinct Number 4.
The main purpose of this special meeting was to confer with District Highway
Engineer C. B. Thames and his staff with reference to rifht-ofd sought from Mrs. Eula
Locke for the extension of State Farm-to-lancet Highway No. 2037 from Edge to intersect
Farm-to-Market Highway No. 2038 near Tabor. Extended discussion was had with Hrs. Locke
and Mr. R. W. Caldwell and District Highway Endneer C. B. Thames and his assistant J. H.
McLain. The hidiway engineers advised the Court that it would not be feasible to re-locate
or re-desiGn the said hi&way as it is now proposed to be routed thmu Lts the Locke and Caldwell
properties. The attire matter was taken under consideration for later solution.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to request the
County Auditor to check and approve strictly within available allotted funds all weekly
payrolls for extra help in County offices.
