Monday. November U. 1957.
The members of the Coumiesionere Court of Brazos County, TWMS, noting that Monday, '
November 11, 1957, would be the second Monday in the month and the regular meeting days but
that this date in being observed as Veterans Day, a County holiday, agreed to recess until
10:00 o'clock a. m., an Tuesday, November 12, 1957.
Regular Meeting November 12. 1957.
Pursuant to recess on Monday, November 11, 1957, the re0nlar meetiM of the
Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners Courtroom
in the courthouse at Bryan, beginning at 10:OD o'clock a. in., an Tuesday, November 12,
1957, with the following present:
Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct No. 1;
George Dam, Commissioner of Precinct No. 2;
Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct No. 3;
Newton Burlin, Commissioner of Precinct No. 4f and
A. B. Syptak, County Clerk;
with Commissioner Porterfield acting as presiding officer because of the absence of
County Judge Ware, who was ill.
Mesdames Madge Wallace and U. L. Russell, President of the Friends of the Bryan
Carnegie Library, appeared before the Court and "eked that Brazos County participate in the
rural library program demonstration sponsored by the &tensimn Division of the State Library
Of Taxes.
After discussion and upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court
voted to pass the following resolution:
"RESOLUT1OH
WHEREAS, the Extension Division of the State Library of Terns in putting
an a rural library program demonstration.
WHEREAS, the said demonstration is to be furnished to Brazoe County at no cost
to said County, and
W RREAS, the participation of Brazos County in such demonstration of the rural
library service program is believed to be in the public interest,
BE IT IUSOLVED by the Commissioner's Court of Brazos County in regular session
assembled, that Brazos County will participate in the rural library service program
demonstration of the Extension Division of the State Library of Taxes sad the County
Judge of Brazos County, and his successors in office is hereby authorised to furnish
such aid and assistance at no most to Brazos County as may be required."
The Court received, considered and approved the following reports from county and
precinct officers showing official fees of office collected and remitted to the County Trsasnrar
according to duplicate copies of Treasurer's official receipts attached thereto:

County Clerk Syptak requested authority from the Court to send tw at his
ds;a;U" to Austin, Texas, to attend the Fourth Annual Conference on Vital Statistics
to be sponsored by the State Department of Health an December 12 and 13, 1957. He
sported that many perplexing problems arise in his office in connection with the
handling of vital statistics, and that it would be highly desirable and profitable to
the County for the deputies assigned to thin work to attend that conference and school
of instruction. Therefore, on motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court
voted to authorize the necessary expenses of attending this conference by two deputies
as designated by the County Clerk.
On motion, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court approved the
recommendation of Mr. Monroe 0. Band that the County pay Mrs. Marjorie B. Wood $133.33
ar oae-half month's salary in lieu of earned vacation Which she was not permitted to take
en account of convenisoice of office. This payment was directed to be made from the
Oaneral Fund, and not the salary allotment to the tax office.

Thesoame on the matter of receiving, canvassing, and recording the returns from the
Special Election held throughout Bravos County, an November 5, 199?, for the purpose of voting
J for or against the amendments to the Constitution. Whereupon, the returns frma the said elsotim
were duly canvassed, recorded and certified on Page 61, of Volume NCO, of the Official Record
of Election Returns of Bravos County, Texas, an file in the office of the County Clerk.
On motim duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay all bills
rfnich have been properly filed and approved.
Whereupon the Court adjourned.
Special. Meeting - November 34, 1957.
A special meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brasov Canty, Texas, was hold fa
the Commissioners courtroom in the courthouse, at Bryan, beginning at 9s00 o'clock a. a.,
an Thursday, November 14, 1957, ti th the following presents
George Ann, Commissioner of Precinct No. 2;
Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct No. 31
Newton Burlin, Commissioner of Precinct No. 41 and
A. B. Syptak, County Clerk. '
County Judge Ware and Commissioner Nolan were absent an account of illness, and
Cammtssioner Burlin was presiding officer.
This meeting was by prearrangement with Mr. Andy Adam, Assistant Coordinator of
Foreign Programs at A. and M. College of Tax", and the purpose of this session was to met
with Mr. H. H. Williamson and a group of five persons from YugoslavL, who are making a study
of agricultural practices carried out in this country. The Court also dia'aussed Comnty
government aa well as State government, and explained the method by which the taxes arc levied
for this County. The visitors were as fbllowss

Joyce were present at this meeting and disouseed the matter of employing sod deteradning
the salaries of County Agents and Home Demonstration Agents here in Texas.
The group were entertained at a luncheon in the home Commissioner Porterfield,
and later made a visit to the home of Commissioner Dunn.
Whereupon the Court adjourned.
