In the office of the County Judge, beginning at 8s30 o'clock a a , an Thursday, July 11, 1957s
with the following presents
A. 3 hare, County Judge, presiding,
Raymond A Nolan, Cas isaicner of Precinct Number 11
George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct Number 2j
Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct Number 3; and
Newton Burlin, Commissioner of Precinct Number 4.
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss certain fiscal matterb and
procedures with Mrs. Marjorie S. Burkhalter, Tat Assessor-Collector, who appeared before the
Court and reported In detail upon the affairs sod personnel of the tax office.
lncUentelly, the Court gave preliminary consideration to the budget for 1958, and
• In conference with the County Judge as budget officer, agreed upon certain matters including
an overall eountrwide tax rate of $1.00 per $100 00 valuation of propergi within the CounW.
Whereupon the Court adjaurned

A special meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brass County, Texas, was held In
the Ceediseionere Courtroom in the courthouse, at Bryan, beginning at 2:30 o'clock p. a., an
Xondgr, JuU 29, 1957, with the following presents
A. 3 Wars, County Judge, presiding,
Raymond A Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct Number lj
George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct Number 24
Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct Number 33
Newton Burlin, Commissioner of Precinct Number 41 and
A. B 3yptak, County Clerk
The County Judge submitted the proposed budget for the fiscal (calendar) year of
1958 carrying total proposed expenditures and reserves of 5582050 00 with a recommended tax
rate of $1.00 per $100 00 valuation Whereupon Commissioner Burlin owed that the budget be
accepted and public hearing set thereon, and Commissioner Nolan seconded this notion, which
was unanimously adopted
Motion was made, duly seconded, and unanimously adopted, by which it was ordered that
the proposed budget for 1958 be filed with the Count, Clerk and Net down for public bearing In
the Commissioners Courtroom in the Courthouse at Bryan, Texas, at 10:00 a. a., an Friday,
August 16, 1957, and that public advertisement of this hearing be made by publishing the
following notice in the Bryan Daily Sag1e of Bryan, Texas, once each week for three weeks

BUDGET FOR 1958:
Public notice is hereby given that pursuant to action of the
Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Teams, taken on July 29,
19579 open public hearing will be held in the Coundesioners
Courtroom In the Courthouse at Bryan, Tunas, at 10:00 a m , an
Friday, Aulpat 16, 1957, for consideration of the 1958 budget
for Brazos County, submitted to the Court on July 29, 1957, and
now remaining on file in the office of the Canty Clerk of said
County, all in accordance with law.
