Whereupon the members of the Court proceeded to an incinerator near the courthouse property and burned each and every one of the bonds and warrants hereinabove listed, thus completely removing them from the outstanding indebtedness of Brazos County The members of the Court constituted themselves into a Board of Equalization of Brazos County for the year 1957, subscribed the statutory oath as such, and then recessed the said Board of Equalization until 9 00 a m , on Tuesday, the 14th day of May, 1957. Keesre. N P. Davis, J. C Goldsmith, Emmett Smith, 0. D Dabbs and C R. Sample being the local agents or representatives of the Humble 011 and Refining Company, The Oulf 011 Company, The Continental 011 Company, The Magnolia Petroleum Company and The Tezas Comoany, respectively, appeared before the Court and presented their individual requests and reasons for what they termed a more equitable distribution among the mayor companies of the county purchases of oils, diesel fuel and gasoline After somewhat extended discussions and by motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to tale the matter under advisement for further study with the view to working out a more satisfactory arrangement Mrs Y.arjorie E Burkhalter, Tax Assessor~Collector, appeared before the Court and requested authorizat,on of payment to her Chief Tax Assessor of $400 00 as refund of expenses incurred in the 1957 annual fob of assessing over the County. On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to authorise payment of this $400 00 After further discussion of the matter, however, and on motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to instruct Mrs Burkhalter that hereinafter there would be no special expense attached to the assessment of County taxes and that this fob would be done exclusively through the office here in the courthouse On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay all bills which have been properly filed and approved and for which budgeted funds are availaole.
