A regular meeting of the Comm'asionere Court of Brazos County, Texas, was hold
in the Commissioners Courtroom in the courthouse, at Bryan, beginning at 10:00 o'clock
a* m., an Monday, April 8, 19579 with the following Frosents

Raymond A Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct Number 1,
George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct Number 2,
Clyde J Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct Number 3,
Newton Burlin, Commissioner of Precinct Number 4, and
A B Syptak, County Clerk.
The Court received, approved, and ordered filed as submitted the following

The Court granted the request of Negro County Agricultural Agent Be 0. Papa
for absence with pay for the period from June 8 to 29, 1957, in order that he might
tale advanced school work at Prairie View State University.
The Court took cognizance of the conference held with the Brazos County
?oath Development Council in the Commissioners Courtroom, beginning at 7130 o1clook
p. m , on Thursday, April 4, 1957, during which a r.ther complete discussion was had
of the Brazos County probation office and the youth counseling, service now being
handled by Mr Victor h Ehlers During that conference the council presented to the
members of the Court formal request for a budget allocation for the coming calendar
year, totaling $28,000 00 in two divisions, being $10,000 00 for the probation office

Then came on the matter of receiving and canva.,sing the returns from elections
held throughout Brazos County on Saturday, April 6, 1957, for the selection of local trustees
for the common school districts and for one member of the County Board of Education from
Commissioner's Precinct No 2, one member from Commissioner's Precinct No 4, and one
member-at-large from the Canty do a whole.
From the returns received and officially c-nvassed, the Court found and declared
the results and the election of local trustees and members of the County Board of Education,
according to the following tabulations

Whereupon, based upon the foregoing tabulation of the returns received, the
Court frond and declared that Messrs W W Muaphries, Adolph A Kopeteky, Jr., and
Hoy Barnes had been elected as the three local trustees for Kurten Conaclidated Common
School District No 10, that Edward harka and Tony Fazzino had been elected as the two
w t local trustees for Smetana Common School District No 271 that E E Peters had been
elected as a member of the County Board of Education from Commissioner's Precinct No 2,
and that George B Wilcox had been elected as a member-at-large of the County Board of
Education from the County as a whole, and it was so ordered
Commissioner Burlin requested authorisation to purchase for his precinct from
its allocated funds a 1500-gallon water tank for installation on a truck, from the
Capital Machine Company, of Austin, Texas, at a net price of $430 00, which was the
lowest and beet price he had secured A motion was made, duly seconded, and unanimously
adopted, by which this request was approved and the purchase was authorized
On recormendation of Commissioner Burlin, and upon his report that the vehicle
had not been in usable condition for a long time and could not be restored to activity,
and on motion, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to dunk the following
described motor vehicle ..nd to cancel the registration and certificate of title by our. or
to the State Highway Department's motor vehicle division at Austint
Ford truck, 1942 model, Motor No 99T-498494, Exempt
Terms License No XB-3686, State Certificate of Title
No 4379471
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay all
r bills which have been properly filed and approved and for which budgeted Elude are
available.

A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court was held in the office of the
County Judge in the Courthuuae at Bryan, Texas, be5Uuting at 3130 o'clock p m , on
Wednesday, May 1, 19579 with the following presents

adopted, the Court voted to purchase from Adrian McDonald of Wheelock, Texas, for $600 00

motor vehicle which was ordered allocated to that precrnctl
One used 1952 Ford Truck Chassis and Cab, equipped
with 25,000 lb Tulea Winch, botor No F8K2HM-50418,
covered by Texas Certificate of Title No. 17546960,
covered by 1956 Texas License No 9J 9264, and not
registered for 1957
