that she would like to have authority to employ an additional deputy who might be placed in
training to eventually become an expert assessor. On motion duly seconded end unanimously
adopted, the Court took the request under advisement for possible future action.
County Attorney John 11. Barron appeared before the Court and requested that the
assistant county attorney be given an ap>ropriate increase in compensation in recognition of

the efficient services he has been rendering. On motion duly seconded and unanimously
adopted, the Court took this request under advisement.
Sheriff Hamilton appeared before the C,nurt and reported that tPe old kercury
automobile now in service in his department was in a poor state of repair, and must be
traded in on a now car at a very early date. lie also reported that due to the fact that
the City of Bryan is changing its radio setup, it would be ecessary for the County to
buy additional and different equipment to continue receiving radio service through the
City station. On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the_~Ccurt authorized
Sheriff Hamilton to secure bids on a new automobile lass trade-in allowance for the old
Mercury, and also to hot estimates on the cost of a sepirate radio station for the County.
Mr. Peacock, of the local Nehi Bottling Company, anceared before the Court and
requested permission to install an R. C. Cola vending machine at an appropriate location
in the courthouse plant, to be agreed upon by the sheriff or other official, with the
understanding that the profits from such machine would be for the benefit of the Brazos County
PFA and 44 ooys and girls clubs. It is further ordered by the Court, on motion duly

On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to reappoint
Doctor R. Henry Harrison of Bryan, as Brazos County Hualth Officer, without pay, for the
two-year term beginning January 1, 1957, and ending December 31, 1955.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to reappoint
Wallace Davis Burley as Brazos County Veterans Service Ufficer far the two-year terra
beginning January 1, 1957, and ending Decamber 31, 1958.
At request of Commissioner Porterfield and on motion duly seconded and unanimously
adopted, the Court voted to purchase from Benson-Wheeler Tractor Company, 805 West 25th
Street, Bryan, Texas, one used hodel I. H. C. Tractor in excellent condition, Serial No.
7-6493, for $1,500.00 cash, to be paid from funds available to Precinct No. 3, to which
said tractor was allocated.
Preliminary to the selection of an official county depository for the
biennium 1957-58, and in accordance with the provisions of Article 2544, at seq., of the Revised
Civil Statutes of Texas, as amended, by unanimous vote, the Court authorized the County
Judge to advertise for bids from intereated banks by publication of the following notice
in the Bx-tan Daily Earle once each week for three weeks prior to the regular February
meeting of the Courts

Notice is hereby given that Brazos County will receive bids up
to ten o'clock a. m., on Mondays 1ebruary 11, 1957, for a depository
for the biennium of 1957-58, for official county funds, including
those of the common school districts
All funds must be protected by bonds and pledges of cash or
securities, as well as by provisions of the Federal Deposit
Insurance Corporation.
All bids must be acconpanied by certified check payable to the
Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texa-, for not less than
one-half of one oar cent of the county revenue for the year of
1956, which shall be forfeited if the successful bidder does not
enter into the necessary bonds and pledges of cash or securities.
