Pena Date 5 Sept. 56.^ The Court received, approved and authorized the payment of $159.88 to Caudill, Rowlett, Scott and Associates, architects and engineers, of Bryan, Texas,for cash paid out for twenty- five (25) gallons of grey lacquer paint and transportation charges thereon, all used for repainting and refinishing files and office fixtures for new oourthouse, according to detailed invoices attached to original statement. District Agent Silver Whiteett, of the A & M. College Extension Service, appeared before the Court and formally introduced Mr Edward Lloyd Joyce and asked the Court to accept and confirm him as the new Assistant County Agricultural Agent for Brazos County. Mr. Whitsett stated that Mr. Joyce had an outstanding record and had the highest endorsement of himself and his associates Whereupon the members of the Court assured Mr. Whiteett and Mr. Joyce of their cooperation in the premises and on motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, voted to recognize Mr. Joyce as Assistant County Agricultural Agent for Brazos County, effective from September 15, 1956 Mr. Joe Barron appeared before the Court and stated the dire need of financial assistance from the County for the Brazos County Free Fair to relieve the organization from the necessity of collecting a parking charge for motor vehicles. Mr. Barron further stated that if the County would put up $400.00, the Fair Board would be able to avoid the necessity of collecting this parking fee and thus would be in a position to avoid the hazards of care being parked in and along the state highway. Commissioner Burlin joined in the discussion of this matter and told the Court that if this assistance could be provided it wonld be a great contribution to safety. After discussion and upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to allow the four Commissioners to pay from their respective Terracing Accounts the sum of $100.00 each, or a total of $400.00, which would be used in lieu of a parking fee for automobiles during the Brazos County Free Fair. 4 i ',~z v, 7 a u . • 1 t Y v 4 ~ ~ li t t ~ ~ ~ b t, f r-S I ` I i i I~ I ~ On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to allow each Cormissioner to pay from his Terracing Account the am of $50.00, or a total of $200.00, to be used by the Brazos County Supervisor of the Farmers Home Administration of the United States Department of Agriculture for the purpose of employing temporary clerical help in the processing of applications for drouth feed loans for farmers and ranchers from this area. A special meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Tears, was held in the office of the County Judge, in the courthouse, at Bryan, Texas, beginning at 8130 o'clock a. m., on Friday, September 21, 1956, with the following presents A. S. Ware, County Judge, presiding, Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct Number 1; George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct Number 2; Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct Number 3; and Newton Berlin, Commissioner of Precinct Number 4. At the request of Commissioner Porterfield and on motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, it wan voted to purchase from the Browning-Ferris Machinery Company, of Houston, Texas, for allocation to and payment from fluids available to Precinct Number 3, of which Clyde J. Porterfield is Commissioner, the followings One new IHC Model TD-91 Front End Loader, complete with IHC Drott, 9h3 Slid Shovel, with 1-1/2 yard Bucket, with Teeth, complete delivered at Bryan. . . . . .$13,758.00 Less trade-in allowance on Allis-Chalmers HD5G, Serial Nos 1670, with International Front End Loader 9,758.00 Net balance to be paid by County .$10,000.00. Net cash on January 15, 1957, plus 4 per cent interest. Whereupon the Court adjourned. Special Fleeting. - September 27. 1956. A special meeting of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the Commissioners Courtroom in the courthouse, at Bryan, beginning at 8:30 'r o'clock a. m., on Thursday, September 27, 1956, with the following presents A. S. Ware, County Judge, presiding, r Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct Number 1; George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct Number 2, Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct Number 3; and Newton Berlin, Commissioner of Precinct Number 4. ~S Came on to be considered the matter of setting date for open house for the i new courthouse-jail plant. It was felt by the members of the Court that the public Y generally should be given ample opportunity to inspect the plant and that out-of-county ~visitors should also be given opportunity to see it. After discussion and upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to have open house for the new plant on October 13, 1956, beginning at 10:00 o'clock a. m. and ending at 6:00 o'clock p. m. 13 18, 21, 27, 1956.
