Mr. William M. Panay of the architectural and engineering firm of Caudill, Rowlett,
Scott & Associates, appeared before the Court and stated that Mr. Allan T. Kraft, of the Kraft
Furniture Companly of Bryan, had requested an extension of two weeks time on his contract for
the installation of furniture in the new courthouse-fail plant. After discussion, the members

of the Court asked ALr. Pena to inform Mr. Kraft that without prejudice to the enforcement of
the penalty clause under his contract, the County is insisting upon hie delivery of the balance
of the furniture hdthout further delay.
While before the Court, Mr. Pena presented the following bide which had been submitted

I promise to furnish all labor on refinishing and re-
painting of the files located in the Sheriff's Office, District
Clerk's Office (213), Court Reporter's Office (21a), Auditor's
Office (122), County Deputies Work Area (123), County Clark'_
Records Area (126), Treasurer's Office (132), Local Welfare
Worker Office (140, Veterans Service Officer (139), Tax Rolle
and License (147), Records Storage (149) County Superintendent
Secretary (172), and County Health Unit 1157) which are now in
their temporary spaces throughout the city and are the property
of the Brazos County Courthouse, complying with all specifications
as proposed by architects, for the sum of thirteen hundred and
forty-one dollars ($1341.00).
If awarded bid, I will notify the office that files will be
picked up the dqy before. All records are to be removed and
placed back in files by owner.
The large record racks will be picked up SaturdaV and re-
turned on the following Monday morning.
Thirty to thirty-two gallons of paint will be required for
repainting files.
Property owner shall be relieved of all liability that
might happen either to myself or men working for me during the
course of this fob.
This fob will be done in first class workman like manner
with all labor and material being of type to comply with
architects' specifications.

It having been found and declared by the Court that the bid of $995.00, submitted
by Otis Robertson, was the lowest and best she received, an motion duly seconded and
unanimously adopted, the Court voted to award the contract to him. It was further voted that
the architects be directed to work with Mr. Robertson and supervise the painting moving and
installation of the equipment into the proper quarters in the new courthouse plant.
Mr. R. W. Caldwell, of Caldwell and Caldwell, landscape architects, appeared
before the Court and discussed further the matters of the landscaping and the sprinkler eystm
for the new courthouse grounds. He stated that it had been found that three additional
water heads should be installed in the sprinkler system and that 1-1/2-inch pipe should be
used at a designated point rather that the 1-1/4-inch. He estimated that these changes
would increase the cost of the sprinkler system by approximately $175.00. Mr. Caldwell further
reported that it had been found necessary to substitute certain trees for those originally
specified in the landscape plane, but that these changes would not increase the coot of the
planting. He stated that the changes recommended were included in the attached orange order
which was voted approval by the Court.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to change the
polling place from the Bryan City Hall to the Lamar Junior High School Gymnasium, for Brazos
County Election Precinct No. 141 there being no change whatsoever in the boundary lines of
this election precinct. Due to certain alterations in the Bryan City Hall, the Brazos County
Democratic Executive Committee found it necessary to hold its primary election on July 28 in
mother location, and for this purpose secured the gymnasium, of the Lamar Junior High School of
the Bryan City School System. This request and recommendation of the County Democratic Committeq,
being approved by the Court, the change of the polling place was officially made, so as to be

Judge in the Courthouse at Bryan, Texas, beginning at 9300 o'clock a. m., on Wednesday, Aulpat
22, 1956, with the following present:
