In accordance with the action of the Court at that time, Mr. Caldwell reported that the lowest of three bide, he had received, was $180.00,. c eu~itted by Be Womack, of Houston, Twee. Whereupon a motion was made, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, by which the Court authorized this work to be done immediately under the supervision of j Mr. Caldwell. ff Commissioner Burlin brought up the matter of moving, re-loco 1 ting and re-constructing improvements on the property of. Lewis Taplia and wife Thelma Taplin, adjacent to State Highway 21, west of Bryan, occasioned by the acquisition of additional land to enable the State Highway Department to widen that thoroughfare into a four lane highwwe`y. During the discussion of this matter, the Court called in Mr. I. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct Number 31 l Newton Bu rlin, Commissioner of Precinct Number 41 and A. B. Syptak, County Clerk. This special meeting was held after the five membere of the Comrst, and Messrs. Wally Scott, Brawley King and William M. Pena of the architectural firm of Caudill, t Rowlett, Scott k Associates of Bryan, and Mr. A. P. Kasch, representing the contracWM firm of A. P. Kasch and Son of Big Spring, Tome, had made a careful and conpiste iaspeotim of the new courthouse plant and jail. This inspection covered mia>te details, included a the entire plant, and required two hours time, begtauing at 9t00 ohalock a. m. on this date. ` a N Based upon this inspection and the recommendation of the architects and with the ,t consent of Mr. A. P. Mach, the Court voted unanimously to accept the entire plant, subject to the completion by the contractor of the specifications enumerated by the architects and t' h Mfr speed upon by Mr. Kaschl all as is.msore tally set up and described in Estimate No. 20, 4 Ff R"'. t calling for the present payment of Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00) and the retention of Sir Thousand Five Hundred Dollars (16,500.00) (plus $120.00 to be covered by Change Order No. y. , 9) and which said original Estimate No. 20 is attached heretoh r ' ~ t Mr. Kanch stated that his firm would carry all insurance on the new plant until August 1, 1956, which proposition was gratefully accepted by the Cant.
