In accordance with action taken an May L,, 1956, the architectural and engineering firm
of Caudill, Rowlett, Scott & Associates presented to the Court the formal contract negotiated
t' with Caldwell & Caldwell, landscape architects, and recommended its acceptance and approval.
k After examination and discussion of the matter, this contract was accepted by the Court and

& Associates
, appeared before the Court and stated that in view of the contractor's delay in - •

delivering the new plant, his firm was recommending a partial payment an account to Haswell's

ng equipment. This recommendation was based upon the I"
fact that a large part of the Haswell's material has been delivered and is in the Judicial Unit' t

of the Courthouse, but not yet installed on account of general contractor's unavoidable dela

Upon discussion of the matter, it was the feeling of the members of the Court that the Haswell
firm was being delayed in installing the equipment contracted for and which is partially delivered.

Based upon these considerations and upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted
the Court'

voted to authorize the immediate
payment to Haewell's of Bryan, of $3,155.69; this sum being

approximately one-third of the base contract price of 69,333.36 agreed upon on March 12, 1956.

On motion duly secanded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay all bills which

have been properly filed and approved and for which budgeted funds are avdilable.

r Brazos County, Texas, at the office of the County Judge in the Temporary
j Courthouse, Washington Avenue at 25th Street in Bryan, Texas, until 10:00 I
a, m., on Monday, July 23, 1956, for Landscape Development of the grounds
of the new Brazos County Courthouse in Bryan, Texas, consisting of;
(A) Excavation and removal of existing surface soil; sub-soil grading;
top-soil surfacing; prepared planting soil; (B) Installation of underground j
lawn sprinkler system; (C) Lawn grass sodding; and (D) Planting of ornamental '
shrubs, shade trees and ground cover.

Brazos County reserves the right to reject any or all bide, to

v Plane and Specifications and information relative to the proposed
work'may be obtained from the offices of the Landscape Architect$ CALDWELL
AND CALDWELL, 406 Day Street, Bryan, Texas, or from the offices of the
Building Architects, Caudill, Rowlett, Scott and Associates, 425 South Main
Street, Bryan, Texas. A deposit of Ten Dollars ($10.00) per set of plans
and specifications will be required, which deposit will be returned upon
return of the plans and specifications to the Landscape Architecte after the
bidding.
A bid bond in the amount of five per cent (5%) of the largest amount
of the total bid by the bidder will be required. t
A performance bond in the amount of one hundred per cent (100%)
of the total amount of the contract will be required of the successful bidder.
All bide will be retained by the County and will not be returned., „
to the bidders.
No bid tendered later than the time specified will be accepted.

On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to authorise Mr. Robert W.
Caldwell ot,the landscape engineering firm of Caldwell and Caldwell to secure bide for the care and
treatment of live-oak trees on the courthouse square, so as to prevent their dying, if at all possible.
The County Judge was authorized to approve the proposals for this work and to expedite it in every
possible way.
The Court received, approved, and ratified the payment of the'following statement of account
submitted by Caudill, Rowlett, Scott, and Associates, Architects and Engineers on the Brazos County
