S. Ware, County Judge, presiding; re + S j t O Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct No, 1; I't George Dunn, Commissioner of Precinct No. 2; Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct No. 3; Newton Burlin, Commissioner of Precinct No. 4; and A. B. Syptak, County Clerk. F The purpose of this meeting was to further consider the bids and proposals for the furniture and furnishings for the new courthouse plant as received on May 4, 1956, and which were referred to the firm of Caudill, Rowlett, Scott, and Associates, architects and engineers, for tabulation, comparison , et r evaluation, checking, and recommendations to the Court. Accordingly, Mr. William M. Pena, of that firm, appeared and reported that they had checked the bids against specifications and otherwise had ectaminsd them, and that their recommendation was that the lox bid of =66,567.66 for Item 1 of A. 14 ° • Furniture, submitted by Kraft Furniture Coatpagy, of Bryan, and being on the Knoll products throughout s 1 be accepted. After discussion, and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to accept said bid and awarded the contract therefor. Y~ I a Mr. Allan Kraft, of the Kraft Furniture Company, of Bryan, the successful bidder on the main i " E lot of furniture, who had been present since the beginning of the meeting, made a proposal that in 4 i- order to have all the supplying and work of installation done by the same people, rather than two or }t i"t f more contractors, and thus avoid conflicts in deliveries and times of completion, his company would supply and install all curtains and carpets and rugs fbr the amounts of the lowest bide respectively x,: for these items. Mr. Pena stated this would be a great convenience to all parties, but he felt that } the bids should be considered as submitted, although he conceded the Courtls right to reject any or • vJ + all bids or to accept any bid or bids found to be most advantageous to the County. Strictly as the ' Y basis of this being most advantageous to the County in that it would avoid possible conflicts in 4 deliveries, working, and installation, the Court exercised its option to accept this proposal and 1 fw voted to place all of the work in the hands of one contractor. Whereupon, an motion dully seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to place contract _ • with Kraft Furniture Company, of Bryan, Texas, for Item 1 of H. Curtains and Drppee, for products of ; N1 Knoll Associates, at a price of 84,759.85. ;a - * Likewise, upon motion dully seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to place contract • with Kraft Furniture Company of Bryan, Texas, for C. C•.rpete and Rugs, at a price of =1,041.36., u ~ t It having been developed that all bids on carpets had been made on specifications which did not include pads or padding under the carpeting, and on a proposal by Mr. Allan Kraft ofthe Kraft Furniture Company, of Bryan, Texas, upon motion duly seconded and,unanimously adopted, the Court voted to purchase from that firm the necessary padding or pads of a superior quality or grade, at a cost , Of $180.00. z , ,t • After the action of the Court In separate motions foi the foregoing, and independently / , mod. Mr. Kraft stated to the Court that he would begin at once the wo* of getting the materials in hand and would proceed without delay to complete his contract within the specified time of ninety (90) days from this data, all to be in accordance with contract to be officially signed.
