A special meeting of the Comodesioners' Court was held in the office of the County Judge

The primary purpose of this special meeting was to receive and consider bids for the furniture and furnishings for the new Brazos County Courthouse plant in accordance with
advertisement published in the Bryan Daily Eagle for three consecutive weeks prior to this
date:

The Commissionerst Court,of Brazos"County, Texas, met in regular session, in the

office of•the County Judge in the Courthouse, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12,

Pursuant to instructions of the Court at the "larch 5 session, Mr William M. Pena, ;'•';dit
" of the firm of Caudill, Rowlett, Scott, & Associates, architects-engineers on the new ~ti•;+
Courthouse-Jail plant, appeared and reported that upon further study and tabulation of the

d' bids received, his firm recommended acceptance of bids ani'letting of formal contracts for
4 furniture and furnishings installed in the new plant, as follows:

Appearing also before the Court were Messrs. W. F. Doney, Henry Buchanan, Eugene
Hart, Allan Kraft, A. L. Schiller, and J. E. Bethancourt, local dealers of Bryan. ttise
Ara Haswell also was present, in support of her bid. Mr.. F. L. Henderson, well known

local attorney, also appeared,'though he stated he was not representing any one. Mr.Doney
requested time to- state his opposition
to acceptance of the bid submitted by Knoll.-
Asso- ciates; on the ground that it was a lone bid and that because that firm was the maker or
supplier of a greater percentage of the items to be bid on, other prospective bidders were '
placed at a disadvantage. After extended discussion,'on motion, duly seconded and unani-
i• tr mously'adopted, the Court voted'to ask Mr: Pena and hia'Associates to confer with Masers.
