Gentlemen:
With reference to the itemized account of $112.85
:c.
against Jack Shimen on the books in the offices of the
County Clerk and not dated as to year, I wish to advise
that this work was done by me as commissioner during the
f
year 1945 and turned in as a charge against Mr. Shimen.

er on that same year Mr. Shimen granted the commissioner
permission to open a road drainage ditch through his land. "

The trade we made at that time was that this drainage ditch
i
easement would be worth as much as the charge we had against
him and we then and there agreed to cancel the charge in
return for the other consideration granted the County by
Mr. Shimen.
I
In some manner I overlooked reporting this trade to
the Court and fAiled to get the charge removed from the
books. In all justice to Mr. Shimen, the account is not
now owing and should not be on the books. .

On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to direct the County
Clerk to charge off on his books the account of $112.85 outstanding against Mr. Jack Shimen of ;
Bryan, Texas, for the reason that this item has been offset by a grant from Mr. Shimen to the
County for a road drainage ditch.
Negro County Home Demonstration Agent Fannie J. Taylor appeared before the Court and
requested leave of absence beginning July 18, 1955s in order that she might return to
Prairie View University and complete the necessary work for her Masters Degree. On, motion '
duly seconded and unanimously adopted the Court voted to grant her request for the leave
of absence for six weeks beginning July 18, 1955.
Marjorie E. Burkhalter, Tax Assessor-Collector, appeared before the Court and requested
special compensation to Chief Deputy Tax Assessor-Collector J. Sidney Smith, in the amount of
,•$400.000 in payment to him for car•expenses for assessing taxes for the year 1955. On motion
duly seconded and unanimously adopted the Court voted to grant this request and authorize the
payment of $400.00 to Mr. Smith.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted the Court voted to pay all bills which
have been properly filed and approved and for which budgeted funds are available.

FIRST SUBDIVISION OF LYNNDALE ACRES; in S. P. Austin Survey Number 10, Abstract Number 63
submitted by A. B. Syptak under date of March 16, 19551 and which has heretofore been duly
