On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to reappoint Wallace Davis
Burley as Brazos County Voter-' Service Officer for the two-year team beginning January 1, 19559 and
ending December 31, 1956.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to reappoint Dr. R. Henry
Harrison of Bryan as Brasce County Health Officer, for the two-year team beginning January 1, 1955, and
ending December 31, 1956, without compensation.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to fix holidays,for the
forthcoming year of 1955 as follwst
1. July Fourth.
2. Labor Day.
3. Veterans' Day (November 11th).
4. Thanksgiving Day.
5. Christmas five.

payment to the Brazos County School System of the sum of $600.00 from the Permanent Improvements
Fund.
Mr. Hugh Cunningham appeared before the Court and presented the,attsched± working agreement
which hao been agreed upon by representative of the State Health Department and the local Brgsos
County Youth Development Committee, working in cooperation with Brazos County offioials. This agreement
was accsptedtand approved and ordered inserted in the official Minutes of the Court,.
In accordance with the foregoing memorandum of understanding and by agreement of the coopera-
ting agencies, the County Judge presented to•the Court formal request for the appoiptmsnt of Yiotor M.`
Ehlers, Jr., of Austin, Texas, as Brazos County Probation Officer, effective February 1, 1955.. After
discussion and upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to make the requested-
appointment of Victor M. Ehlers, Jr., of Austin, Texan, as Brazos County Probation•Officer; effective '

Sheriff J. W. Hamilton appeared before the Court and stated-that he had found it impossible
to keep a satisfactory cook employed for the $12.50 weekly compensation set up in the budget. Where.
upon a motion was made, duly seconded and unanimously adopted by which the Court voted to increase

this item to $18.00 per week or,at the rate of $936.00 per annum.

Sheriff Hamilton further stated that the 1951 Pontiac car now in use in his department was
showing decided need of repair and that it would be economy to trade It off and get a new car. Where-
upon a motion was made, duly seconded and unanimously adopted by which the Sheriff was authorised to
secure the best available offer for the trade-in of this car on a new Pontiac and then report back to
the Court.
The Sheriff further outlined his urgent need for an additional deputy sheriff and after detailed

discussion of this matter, upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted the Court voted to

authorize the Sheriff to employ an additional deputy sheriff at a salary of not to exceed $2400.00 per
