Whereupon it was found and declared that the lowest and best bid was that of A. P. Kasch & Sons of Big Springs, Texas, in the amount of $922,000.00. After preliminary consideration the Court authorised the architects to further evaluate this low bid and to confer with the bidder with the vier to reducAagthecost'of the project as much as possible. The architects were requested to report back to the Court at least by the ne=t regular meeting to begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 13, 1954. It was further uoted by the Court that the lowest and best bid submitted for the fail was that of Southern Steal Company of San Antonio, Texas, at $104026.00. Regular Meeting, September 13, 1954. - A regular meeting of the Brazos County Commissionerp' Court was held in the office of the +County Judge beginning at 10:00 a.m., Monday. September 13, 1954, with the following members presents ' A. S. Ware, County Judge, presiding; Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct No. 1; di Reuben F. Conrad, Commissioner of Precinct No. 2; Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct No. 3; a Newton Burlin, Commissioner of Precinct No. 4; And ' A. B. Syptak, County Clerk. Brazos County Veterans' Service Officer W. D.,Burley appeared before the Court and reported that government agencies had now designated November 11 as a veterans' memorial day for all service personnel. In view of this fact; he requested the Court to designate November 11 officially as M Veterans' D► y for Brazos County and further suggested that it be recognized as an official holiday. u ^ After discussion of the matter and upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted the Court , , } voted to recognize November 11 as Veterans' Day and to declare it an official holiday for Brazos County. On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted the Court voted to advertise, for sale the two (2)' acres of land arced by the County and facing 219-6/10 feet on Texas State Highway No. 6 north of the Bryan City Cemetery. It was specified that this tract im offered for sale to the highest and beet bidder for cash with the bide to be received up to 10300 a.m., on Monday, October 11, 19549 according to the following public advertisement to be published three time in the k7-an Wlv Eagles "NOTICE OF, SALE OF RL•AL-ESTATE BY BRAZOS COUNTY Brazos County Commissioners) Court will receive bids up to 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 11, 1954, when they will be publicly opened and considered,for the sale of two (2) acres of land in the S. F. Austin Survey, Abstract No. 63,,lying on the east side of Texas State Highway No. 6, slightly north of the Bryan City Cemetery and more particularly described in deed dated April 5, 1944, and duly recorded in Volume 115, Page 5639 of the Brazos County Deed Records, to which reference is hereby made for further and more accurate description of the land. Brazos County reserves the right to reject any or all bids. By direction of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, this the 15th day of September, A. D. 1954. (A. S. On motion duly seconded and adopted without dissent (Commissioner Conrad voting present) the Court voted to discontinue immediately the bounty of 620.00 each heretofore authorised for, the killing of lobo wolves (Canis Lupus) within the boundaries of Brazos County. Members of the Court conferred further with the architects and Mr. A. F. Kasch, representing A. P. Kasch & Sons of Big Spring, Texas, the low bidder on the proposed new Brazos County aourthonie- jail project. Agreement was reached upon a gross total contract price of $910,702.86. Accordingly, a motion was made, seconded and unanimously adopted by which the said firm of A. P. Kesch & Sons of Big Spring, Texas, was awarded the contract for said am. Whereupon Mr. A. F. Kasch, representing his firm, presented the attached contract which had been approved by the architects and also his per- formance bond for $910,702.86, executed by the Standard Accident Insurance ComPany.
