A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of,&waos County, Tee, was held in the,afflas
of the County Judge and than reasoned to the Distrlat Courtroom in-order to acoammodate the, large
number of visitors, beginning at 4300 p.m., Thursday, September 9, 1954, with the following members

The special purpose of this meeting was to receive and consider bids for the construction

of the proposed new Brazos County courthouse-Sail according to plans and specifications prepared
by Caudill, Rowlett, Scott & Associates, Architects and Engineers of Bryan, Texas.

It was further noted by the Court that the lowest and beet bid submitted for the fail was that

A regular meeting of the Brazos County Commissionerpi Court was held in the office of the

County Judge beginning at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 13, 1954, with the following members presents

Brazos County Veterans' Service Officer W. D. Burley appeared before the Court and reported

memorial day for all service

personnel. In view of this fact; he requested the Court to designate November 11 officially as

Veterans' Lay for Brazos County and further suggested that it be recognized as an official holiday.
After discussion of the matter and upon motion dAdy seconded and unanimous adopted, the Court
'voted to recognize November ll as Veterans' Day and to declare it an official holiday for Brews County.
Commissioner Berlin laid before the Court the following petition from residents of the area, -
requesting that the public road in the Williams Subdivision of part of the Moses Baine Survey, lying '
alongieds State Highway No. 6 north of the City of Bryan, be officially designated as StevenhI Drivos

To Commissioners' Court, Brazos County; request that the road be named Stevenh, Drive.

Upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted the Court voted to designate the above-
mentioned road as Stevens: Drive in accordance with the foregoing petition and request of residents is
affected by that thoroughfare.' r;
