O n motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay all bills which have been properly filed and approved and for which budgeted funds are available. to i Whereupon the Court adjourned. Special Meeting, Wednesday, August 18, 1954. r r A special meeting of the Brazos County Cammiesioners' Court was held at 10 00 W : a.m., ednesday, August 18, 1954, with the following members present: ' A. S. Ware, County Judge, presiding= Raymond A. Nolan, Cacmieeioner of Precinct No. 1; " Reuben F. Conrad, C-1 sioner of Precinct No. 2; is Clyde J; Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct No. •3i % Newton Burlin, Commissioner of Precinct No. 4; and A. B. Syptak, County Clerk. The purpose of this meeting was to lift the cornerstone from the old courthouse now being rased • . and to open the boat vulch had been placed under that atone at the time the buildl 4 was dedicated on - : July 8, 1892. The members of the Court were assisted in this ceremony by Mr. Will X. Gibbs as a rep- - resentative of the Bryan Masonic Lodge which had laid the cornerstone. Sims, ; kl. H. Burt and is • IIon Stuart. ;r•a! The cornerstone being removed the copper-coated boa was exposed and then opened. It was !Quad that the ravages of time had caused disintegration of the papers and othor documents which had-been placed in the bout and this process seemed to have been aggravated by water, which had passed through the boot. ' A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the office of the County Judge, beginning at 3:00 Pm-, Monday, August 23, 1954, idth the following mmbers presents A. S. Ware, County Judge, presiding; Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct No. 11 ? ..j Reuben F. Conrad, Commissioner of Precinct No. 2; Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct No. 31 Newton Berlin, Commissioner of Precinct No. 41 and A. B. Syptak, County.Clerk.. The Court having found and declared that the Ted Hall Wrecking Company of Des Moines, Iowa, had completed the rasing of the old Brazos County courthouse and clearing of the site in full cam- 4 pliance with the contract of February 8, 1954, having used only eleven working days of the fourteen <i days provided therein, wgs entitled to receive payment of the =5,473.00. Said company having pre- sented Its affidavit as the payment of all outstanding bills and the Court having found that there J is no further liability on the part of said contractor, on motion duly seconded and unanimously I• adopted the Court voted to accept said proof and to pay the full contract price of $5,473.00 to the Ted Hall Wrecking Company in accordance with the invoice and affidavit attached hereto. ` Upon the request of the officers of the City of College station and with the approval of • .4 s 1 Commissioner Nolan, the Court u mimonsly adopted the following resolution: "BE IT ORDAINED by the Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Texaes It is hereby declared tots the purpose of the Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Texas, to cooperate with the city council of the City of College Station, I Texas, in reducing the traffic hazards surrounding the A. & M. Consolidated Schools of College Station, Texas, altering by alter a county road as follores - ' Aforesaid road beginning at the corner of Holick Drive and the eastern and of Jersey Street adjacent to the City of College Station; thence eastwardJ'is hereby closed for a distance of 290 feet. Said road hereinafter shall begin at a point 30 feet north of aforesaid former intersection of Holick Drive and Jersey Street and extend; thence an a carve $ O) i southeastward for a distance of 290 feet until the same shall be congruous with said county road extended; thence eastward to State Highway 6 South". y~ County Judge laid before the Court the following statement from Caudill, Rowlett, Scott and S(i~'g Associates, Architects, of Bryan.
