A special meeting of the Brazos County Commissioners' Court was held in the office of the
' County Judge beginning at 9:00 a.m., Friday, July 30, 1954, with the following members present:
A. S. Ware, County Judge, presiding;
Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct No. 1; tt
Reuben F. Conrad, Commissioner of Precinct No. 2;
• Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner of Precinct No. 3;

Moehlman building at the corner of Washington Avenue and 25th Street in the City of B y Bryan into which
the County Judge moved on July 29, 1954.
' County Judge A. S. Aare submitted a proposed budget for the County for the fiscal (calendar)

year of 1955 carrying total proposed expenditures and reserves of $1,290,000.00 with a recommended tax
rate of 800 per $100.00 valuation. Whereupon Commissioner Burlin moved that the budget be accepted
and public hearing set thereon, and Commissioner Conrad seconded this motion. This motion was unanimoua%

® adopted.
Motion was made, duly seconded, and unanimously adopted, by which it was ordered that the
proposed budget for 1955 be filed with the County Clerk and set down for public hearing in the office r
of, County Judge at Bryan at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 31, 1954, and that public advertisement of
this hearing-be made by publishing the following notice in•the, Bryan Daily Eagle of Bryan; Texas, once
each week for three consecutive weeks prior to the public hearing:

4M _ County Judgo laid before the Court the attached contract with H. W. Hoehlman of Bryan for
the rental of an additional building in Block No. Nine (9) of the City of Bryan, for use,as temporary

offices during the donstruction of the now courthouse-jail.
Upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted the Court voted to authorize,the County
} Judge to•exeouts the attached contract with Mr. HoehLman for the rental of this building at $200.00
per month for a period of one year from August 1, 1954, to August 1, 1955, with option of extension for
additional six months on a month to month basis according to attached contract.
Upon motion dully seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court ratified and approved the was
' on July 20, 1954, of the old used LeTourneau four-wheel, six-yard dirt scraper, Serial No. 828703-MA,
purchased by the county second-hand in 1947 and bought by'kr. Claude Buell of garlin, Texas, for

Upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay the foregoing items
from the Permanent Improvements Fund.

In accordance with the terms of the contract of February 8, 1954, and upon motion duly seconded
and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to authorise the Ted Hall Wrecking Company of 217 Franklin
Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa, to begin rasing the present courthouse on Monday morning, August 9, 1954.

gineering firm of Caudill Rowlett, Scott and

Associates of Bryan, appeared before the Court and reported that his firm was ready to submit final

plane and specifications for the new Brazos County courthouse-jail to contractors for bidding. He asked

the Court to set a date for the bids to be submitted and after discussion and upon motion duly seconded
and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to authorize the advertisement for bide on this project to be
received and publicly opened at 2300 p.m., on Tuesday, September 7, 1954.
