Remove all materials, debris and rubbish and clean the site. 3. Cap all utilities at the property line. B. Mork Not Included. Filling and leveling the site after the building is demolished. 1.02 GEN ERAL A. The Prolect: 1. Name: Brazos County Court House. 2. Location: Within the city limits of Bryan, Texas, on the city block which is enclond , by 26th Street on the South, Washington Avenue on the West, 25th Street on the North and College Avenue on the East. 3. Owner: Brazos County. 4. Date: January 11, 1954. 5. Architect: Caudill, Rowlett, Scott and Associates, 425 South Main Street, Bryan, Texas, Phone 3-2714. B. Examination of Site: Each bidder, before submitting proposals for his work, shall have examined the site and satisfied himself as to the existing conditions under which he will be required to work, or that will in any way affect the work under this contract. No allowances will be made in behalf of the Contractor for any error or negligence j on his part. C. Permits, Licenses, Ordinance and Regulations: The Contractor shall acquire all necessary permits or licenses required by law, ordinance and regulations, and shall pay all fees and give all necessary notices in connection therewith. a D. Protection: The Contractor shall provide such temporary walks, fences, or other pro- tective structures as are necessary for public safety. Provide sufficient light guards adjacent to any and all obstructions during dark which may be necessary. S. Insurance: ' 1. Owner's Liability: The Contractor shall maintain ouch insurance as will protect the County from its contingent liabilities for property damages, for personal injury, including death, which may arise from operations under this contract. Should action for damage, accident, injury or death, be initiated, the Contractor shall assume full responsibility for the defense thereof. 2. Contractor's Liability: The Contractor shall maintain such insurance as will pro- tect him from claims under workmens' compensation acts and from any other claims for property damages, for personal injury, including death, which may arise from t operations under this contract, whether such operations be by himself or by any sub-contractor or anyone directly or indirectly employed by either of them. „ F. . Completion Time: Each bidder shall state in the place provided on the proposal form the number of calendar days within which he will agree to complete the work of this contract. The number of calendar days for completion proposed by the bidders will be p considered in making award of contract, and the County reserves the right to make award to bther than the low bidder, if such other bidder can adequately guarantee a substantially more advantageous completion date than that offered by the low bidder. Barriers: Protect existing walks and curbs except as hereinafter specified and all trees within the area described under "Location" above from damage that may be caused either directly or indirectly from operations under this contract by erecting properly located barriers as necessary and maintaining them until com- pletion of this contract. ; 2. Des Moines, Iowa, at a price of $4,193.00 for completion of-the fob in thtsty days from date of work order or their alternate bid of $5,473.00 for completion of the fob within fourteen days of the work order. Accordingly, motion was made, duly seconded and unanimously adopted by wh ch the Court voted to accept , the alternate bid of Ted Hall and Cecil Ebppe of Des Moines, Iowa, and to award them the contract for the demolition of the present courthouse building within fourteen days from date of-work order for a cash consideration of $5,473.00, subject to their giving the required performance bond of $10,000.00 and with the understanding that the demolition work would be begun within five days from date of notioe which may be given at any time within six months from this date. ' +.c 7i The assessed tax valuations have increased a total of $938,832.00 during the year, and the tax roll for 1953 totals $22,089,986.00. •t*,.~ Receipts from various sources totaled $4.4,903.17 and the disbursements totaled $387,013.49, making the receipts a total of 427 889.68 greater than disbursements. , Motor vehicle registrations have increased from 12,968 in 1952 to 13,939` in 1953 or an increase of 971 vehicles. The registration fees have increased ' • - • from $198 ,352.80 in 1952 to $216,232.25 or an increase of $17,879.15 of which - the county retained a total of $137,173.41 and a total of r matted to the State. $79,058.84 was rs- On page 28 of this report, you will note that our assessed tax value- tione since 1945, or fora period of nine years, had increased a total of $10,166,250.00 or an increase of 85.2 per cent. ` On page 29 of this report, you will note that since 1945, or for a •1 r ~ - ' ' ' ' ' period of nine years, our motor vehicle registrations had increased a .l•• ;.,1 total of 8,031 vehicles, or an increase of 135.8 per cent. This increase is not due to oil or any other boom, but rather to the steady growth and development of the county. During the year, a total of $4,189.95 in salaries was paid to the eevm +4rt{;~ J. Wilson and Mrs. Selma M. Wilson, had lately advised him that-they would not execute the easement required for the construction of State Farm-to-Mrket Highway No. 2037 and the County Judge stated further that Mr. Albert Payne had during the past week also said that he would not execute the required easement. The County Judge stated that now the only course left open to the County would be to proceed with the condemnation of the necessary right-of-war required from these parties. Whereupon motion was made and duly seconded that County Attorney Davis Grant be instructed, to file and prosecute condemnation proceedings against these parties at the earliest practicable date by which the State of Texas, acting through its Highway Commission, might acquire the easement to build the proposed State Farm-to-Market Highway No. 2037 on the following described tracts of lend. The motion was adopted by the affirmative votes of Commiesionars Nolan, Conrad and Porterfield and.County Judge Ware. Commissioner Burlin voted "Present", stating as his reason therefor that the portion had not been called back before the whole Court since the Court formally approved the proposed location of said highway. The tracts of land to be condemned are as follows: Land belonging to Jesse A. Wilson, Mrse Selma M. Wilson and Vaughn Robert Wilson of Edge, Texas, and situated in the Mary Lawrence Survey, Abstract No. 30, and more particularly described as•followes BEGINNING at a point in the righ"f-way fence along the north side of a county road from U. 3.
