In view of the fact that Brazos County officers and employees are usually allowed two days
for the Christmas Holidays, on motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted the Court voted to
specify these two days for 1953 as the afternoon of Thursday, December 24, the entire day of Friday,

December 25, and the forenoon of Saturday, December 26, 1953.

Upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay all bills which

have been properly filed and for which budgeted funds are available.

Upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to contract with 8. H.
Astin of Bryan, Texas, an agent for his daughter, Mrs. Onah Astin Barwise, for the rental of the

first floor, basement and vault space in the L. H. Aetin Building at 26th and Main Streets in
Bryan, Texas, formerly occupied by the City National Bank of Bryan, to be used for county office,
,
purposes during the construction of the proposed new courthouse; said rental to begin on January 1,
1954, and to be for a period of not to exceed two years or until the new courthouse is ready
for
,
occupancy; with the provision, however, that this contract may be cancelled by Brazoe Courtly upon
completion of the new courthouse or upon ninety days written notice in anticipation of such com-

pletion date. The Lessor agent is to furnish all heat and water required for said premises. The

rental for the hereinmentioned premises shall be $375.00 par month payable to the order of S. H.

It was found and declared that the beat and most advantageous proposition to the county was.,
the proposal of Bryan Motor Company of Bryan, Texas, to supply the county with a new 1953 Mercur7
4-door sedan udth overdrive and heater, complete at $2881.481 loss trade-in allowance for 1953
Plymouth car, Motor No. P24 72926, Certificate Title No. %D8551, at $2316.48, leaving a net dif-
ference of cash to be paid by the county of $565.00. Accordingly, on motion duly seconded and
unanimously adopted, the Court voted to accept the said proposal and to purchase the new 1953 Mer-
cury car for a net cash difference of 1565.00 after allowing the specified trade-in for the 1953
used Plymouth.
The County Judge laid before the Court the following communication from Honorable Casey

Brazos County Commissioners' Court will receive bids and proposals
for the purchase of Brazos County courthouse-jail bonds as authorized by our
_ taxpayers in an election held on December 5, 1953, up to 11:00 a.m., on Monday,
December 28, 1953. At that time such bide and proposals will be publicly opened
and considered with the view of securing the,proposition which is the most ad-
vantageous to the county. All bide must be in conformity with one of the fol-
lowing statements:
1. Total of $800,000 in one to twenty years with principal maturing
at the rate of $40,000 per year.
