Special Meeting, November 3, 1953.
A special swtlag of the Cas>mtssioaacs' Court of Brazos County, Tens, was held in the ottios ~
• of the County Judge in the Courthouse beginning at 9s00 a.m., Tuesday, November 3, 1953, with the
following members presents

f` O With reference to the proposed construction of the new courthouse-fail for Brazos County, on
b ) 'motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted after detailed discussion, the Court voted to employ as
architects for this project the firm of Caudill, Rowlett, Scott de Associates, Architects, of Bryan,
Tens, with request that they associate with themselves for this
' project the other local practicing
architects.
After full and detailed consideration of all proposals and propositions submitted, an motion
duly seconded and unanimously adopted the Court voted to accept the bid of Rauscher, Pierce 6 Company,
Milam Building, San Antonio 5, Texas, to handle all proceedings and to act as fiscal agent for the
-county in connection with the proposal for the issuance of $800,000.00 in bands to cover the coat of
construction of the new oonrthouse-jail; the said company having agreed to perform all of the necessary
• services for the em of $1,552.00 cash to,be paid if and when the bonds are fl-11 ievued, sold and
delivered.
Whereupon the Court adjourned.

A regular meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was held in the office
of the County Judge in the Courthouse beginning at 1Os00 a.m., Monday, November 9, 1953, with the fol-
loving ambers presents

Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner of Precinct No. 1;
Reuben F. Conrad, Commissioner of Precinct No. 2;

Messrs. Joe R. Barron and J. M. (Ben) Daniel appeared before the Court on behalf of a county-
wide movement which Is seeking to locate and secure adequate sources of longtime water supply for the
entire county and its various communities, including the Cities of Bryan and College Station as well
• as the Add! College of Texas.- These gentlemen stated that a countywide committee of seven was being ,

' formed, one representative of each of the City of Bryan, the City of College Station, the Adds College
of 'Texas, the Bryan Chamber of Commerce, the College Station Chamber of Commerce, the County-at-Large
{I and the Brazos County Commissioners' Court. After discussion of taw matter with members of the Court
and on motion daly'asconded and unanimously adopted (with County Judge Ware abstaining) the Court
voted to designate County Judge A. S..Whre as iteareps sentative an the proposed committee of seven.

In IWAZOS 2= a ROAD is hereby designated
extending from . M. Road in College Station 9outb to
Wellborn, a distance of approximately 6.7 miles, subject to
the availability of funds in the Farm-to-Markit Road fund as
established by Senate Bill 287, 51st Legislature, and subject
to the further condition that Brazos County will furnish all
required right of-wary free of cost to the State.
Upon acceptance by the County and fulfillment of the condition
of this Order the State Highway Engineer is directed to proceed
with construction in the most feasible and economical manner,
at an'estimated cost of $67,000.00 and to assume the rcad for
maintenance upon completion of construction.

the State Highway Department in connection with the proposed highway extending from Faro-to-MsrksC
Highwa4y No. 60 at College Station southward to Wellborn, Tense, a distance of approximately six
and seven-tenths miles and to furnish the required right-of-way without cost to the State.

WHEREA.9, the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, deem, it advisable
to submit to the resident qualified taxpaying voters of said-County, who own taxable
property in said County, and who have duly rendered the same for taxation, a propo-
sition for the issuance of bands of said County, 'for the purpose hereinafter stated;
therefore
BE IT, ORDERED BY THE COMMISSIONERS I COURT OF BRAZOS COUNTY, TEWt
That an election be held in said County on the 5th day of December, 1953, which
date is not lose than fifteen (15) nor more than thirty (30) days from the date,of the
adoption of this order, at which election the following proposition shall bs submitted
to the qualified taxpaying eleotore who own taxable property in said County, and who
have duly rendered the same for taxation, for their action thersuponr
nSHALL the Cocaiseioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, be authorized to
issue the bonds of said County in the total principal sum of EIGHT HUNDRED
THOUSAND DOLLARS (6800,000), to mature serially at such time as may be deemed
most expedient by the Commissioners' Court, but not later than twenty-five (25)
years from the date thereof, and to bear interest at a rate not to exceed TWO
AND THREE-FOURTHS PER CENTUM (2-3/4%) per annum, and to levy ad valorem taxes
sufficient to pay the interest on said bonds and create a sinking fund sufficient
to pay the principal thereof at maturity, for permanent improvement purposes,
to-wit: the construction and erection of the county courthouse and fail building
in the City of Bryan, the County Seat of Brazos County, Texas, pursuant to author-
ity conferred by the Constitution and laws of the State of Texas?"
ALL VOTERS who are legally qualified voters of said Brazos County, Texas, and
who are resident property taxpayers of said County, and who have.duly rendered their
property for taxation, shall be entitled to vote at said election; and said election
shall be held under the provisions of Chapters land- 2. Title 22, Revised Civil
Statutes of 1925, and the Constitution and laws of the State of Taxae.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the ballots for said election shall be prepared in
sufficient number and in conformity with Chapter 6, V.A.T.S. Election Code, adopted
by the Fifty-second Legislature in 1951, and that printed on such ballots shall appear
the following:
