charge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as Assistant County Auditor of Brazos
County, Texas, according to the best of my skill and ability, agreeable to the Constitution
and laws of the United States and of this State, and I further solemnly swear that I have

contribute, any money or valuable thing, or promised any public office or employment as a

Tpe County Judge laid before the Court a signed copy of the report of the Grand Jury as delivered
to him on Friday, September U. 1953, and which is as follwet
THE DISTRICT COURT OF BRAZOS COUNTY, TEXASt
We, the Grand Jury, of the April Term, A. D. 1953, hereby make the following recommendations
1. Recommend that the Commissioners' Court employ another Deputy Sheriff to the
Sheriff's Department. We feel that the Sheriff ulth the help he has has done
an excellent fob but we feel that another Deputy is needed in the Department.
2. We recommend that all rolling machinery and equipment of Brazos County, be prop-
erly marked and identified in the name of the County and the precinct controlling
it.
3. We inspected the Brazos County Court House and concur with reports of previous
Grand Juries that it is in a deplorable condition and some action should be
taken immeuiately for a new Court House.
4. We inspected the Brazos County Jail and found it to be clean and in a sanitary
condition. Everything seems to be all right with the fail except a few minor
repairs are needed.
5. We express our appreciation to Mr. Frank J. Vitopil, County Auditor, for a full

report, showing inventory of all county owned equipment and property.

In closing our Term as Grand Jurors, we express our appreciation to the followings'
1. To the Sheriff and his Deputies.
2. To the Police Department of the City of Bryan.
3. To all clerical offices who have given us all requested assistance.,

Commissioner Nolen laid before the Court the following hid and proposal for the purchase
by the county of one Ford tractor complete with standard equipment and fitted with one five-foot
side-mooted industrial mower:

After considering the foregoing bid and proposal and finding that it would be to the best ;
interest of the county to accept it, upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted the Coma voted
to acoept such a bid and proposal and to purchase from the Bryan Tractor & Implsment Co., of'Brysn,
Texas, the one new INAA Ford tractor complete with standard equipment and one five-foot side-mounted
Industrial mower at a not price of 01,769.34 delivered, to be paid from the Terracing Fund of Precinct
No. 1 and with the understanding that the tractor and mower would be allocated to Precinct No. 1 of
which Raymond A. Nolan is Commmiesioner.

Special Meeting, September 29, 1953.
A'special meeting of the Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, was hold in the
office of the County Judge in the Courthouse beginning at 7230 p.m., on Tuesday, September 29, 1953,
for the purpose of conferring with the members of the Citizens' Advisory Committee on the proposed
new Courthouse4ail building for Brazos County, This conference was originally soheduledfor Septembes
22, but had been postponed because of absence from the State of the Chairman of the Committee.

Committee members were an hand including Chairman Langford. Informal discussions were had of the
various phases of the Committee's report as received by the Court an July 13, 1953. No formal action
was taken, but It was the unanimous agreement of all persons present that the Citizens' Advisory

Committee should stand by ready to be of any further service which might be rendered and subject to
further call of the Court.
