It appearing that County Judge A. S. Ware was temporarily ill'with an infection following a dental operation and that he had designated Commissioner Raymond A. Nolan u County Judge pro ten according to the following certificatat Bryan, Texas, - June B, 1953- I hereby designate County Commissioner Raymond A. Whereopm a motion tam made, duly seconded and unanimously adopted by which the Court i approved the designation of Commissioner Nolan as County Judge pro tam and thereupon he assumed the chair and presided over the meeting for the balance of the session. The Court approved and signed a Public Weigher Bond for Bryan Feed and Seed by W. B. Orr. " Sheriff J. W. Hamilton appeared before the Court and requested a new cook stove for the county Sail since the old one Is beyond repair. Upon motion made and seconded, the Court agreed on F. J. 'Vitopil, County Auditor, obtaining bids for the stove. These bids will be brought before the Court. . S. Wars, presiding; ;A Commissioner Raymond A. Nolan of Precinct No. 1; Commissioner Reuben F. Conrad of Precinct No. 2; Commissioner Clyde J. Porterfield of Precinct No. 31 11 ti Commissioner Newton Harlin of Precinct No. 4; and ~3 County Clerk A. B. Syptak. . r The purpose of this meeting was stated to be to make a decision on behalf of the Commissioners' ~ ' - Court as to the route to be followed an the western end of the current ly proposed State Farm-to-Market Highway from Highway No. 21 westward to Edge. In keeping with the agreement made by the Court an May 11, 1953s with Messrs. Jesse Wilson, V. R. Nilson and Albert Payne, the members have heretofore in- i yy'-~~ 0 V spected the proposed routes and surveys made therefor by the engineers working under direction of the State Highway Department. Commissioner Conrad made a motion that the State Highway Department's p - engineers be directed to finally locate the proposed Faem.to4(aa•kst Highway along the approximate routs "a lJ of the present Edge Cut-Off as it has now been formally surveyed; that this route be specifically , . approved as surveyed through the lands belonging to Messrs. Albert Payne, Ernest Lewis and Messrs. 1a Jesse Wilson and V. R. A'dslegation of ladies representing the various county and local Hose Demonstration orgail- sations of the county appeared before the Court and formally requested that in the preparation of the forthcoming 'county budget there be made provision for full-time clerical assistance for the county agents. Members of the Court gave their assurance that every effort would be made to provide for this, item when the new budget is to be drawn. The delegation consisted of the followings Mrs. W. C. Dahlkamper, of the South College Club, Chairman of the delegation and also ' Chairman for Brazos County of the Texas Home Demonstration Association, and also Adu1L 4-H leader for the county] Mrs. J. 0. Alexander, of the Wellborn Club, Chairman of the Brazos County Home Demon- stration Council] Mrs. R. R. Newcomb, of the North Side Club and Vice-Chairman of the County Council Mrs. A. L. Scales, of the Steep Hollow Club and Secretary-Treasurer of the County Council; Mrs. J. L. Lawson, President of the North Side Clubj Mrs. Will Presnal, of the Tabor Club and County 4-H Adult leaderj Mrs. Oliver Wilcox, of the Tabor Club and Chairman of the 4-H Club CcmmLtteej Mrs. C. M. Sykes, Recreation Chairman of the South College Clubj Mrs. H. L. Simms, of the Wellborn Club and delegate to the County Council. The Court received and considered a formal written report of the Citizens' Advisory'Camnittes appointed on-November 13, 1952, and which report was dated May 21, 1953, and delivered to the County Judge an May 239 19539 and passed over at the regular June meeting. Mr. Joe Barron, a member of the Committee, was also present and discussed briefly some of the recommendations of the committee., { On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to receive this report and , give it due and proper consideration and to confer with the members of the Committee at a mutually convenient time. The membere of the Court were deeply appreciative of the time and study which the , members of the Committee had given to their assignment and the County Judge was authorised to so advise them.
