A special meeting of the Commissioners' Court was held at 1Ot00 a.m., March 31, 1953,

The County Judge presented to the members of the Court a letter dated March 19, 1953,
from P. S. Hoofer, Superintendent of the Southern Pacific Lines at Ennis, Tome, calling atten-
tion to the losers occasioned the TGNO Railroad Company in other parts of the state by county

road hands carelessly operating motar-graders over railroad crossings and thereby leaving
obstruction or acconnlaticn of gravel or other materials on the tracks. the County Com-
aissioners agreed to instruct their operators again as to the necessity for care in operating
their motorgraders over railroad crossings and adjacent to tracks. Commissioner Surlin
suggested that the railroad officials be requested to blacktop their crossings so as to
obviate the necessity for spy type of grading by county road workers.

I, Henry Ransom, hereby request you to terrace the land in the field located in Braaos
County, Texas, near Edge, Texas, four terraces, east and of terrace 60 feet from road to be
pushed south about 25 feet, and as compensation therefor agree to pay to the County in cash ,
the fair and equitable costs of such work•based upon prevailing rate of 17.00 per hour.
The object of this work is the adequate terracing or drainage of the Lad and for soil
conservation purposes.

A special mating of the Commissioners' Court was held in the office of the County

Judge at the Courthouse beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 1953, with the fallewiag

The primary purpose of this meeting was to confer with Mr. George Cargill with reference to

the acquisition of 7-3/4 acres of land required by The State of Texas for right-of-W for
the extension of State FM Highway No. 1179 from Steep Hollow to Reliance. Mr. Cargill appeared

before the Court and after an extended discussion a motion was made by Commissioaw Porterfield

and seconded bV'Cammtseloner Burlln to compensate Mr. Cargill for the required 7-3/4 acres
of land at $100.00 per acre or a total of $775.00 for the separate tract of that acreage
required out of the A. McLaughlin Survey, Abstract No. 157, and the We Co Boyles Survey
Abstract No. 86, described by metes and bounds in a right-of-way dead to The State of Texas
