wdHEREAS, in BRAZOS COUNTY. the appropriate County officials
and the Texas Highway Department in cooperation, with each
other base selected for improvement the following roadet
"From State Highway 21 near Navasota River
Northwest to Edge, a distance of approximately
6.7 miles.
"From State Highway 21 at Kurten, Northwest to
County Road, a distance of approximately 5.6
miles. -
OHM, TWZMHE, IT IS ORDERED that the above described roads
be designated as Farm-to-Market Roads and improved to provide
two-lane dustless surfaces, subject to the condition that
Brazos County will furnish all required right-of-way free of
coat to the State.
"Upon acceptance by the County and fulfillment of the condition
of this Order, the State Highway Engineer is directed to pro-
need with construction in the most feasible and economical man- 1 "
y nor, at an estimated cost of $129,000.00, and to assume the
roads for maintenance upon completion of construction."

tow and conditions of the foregoing request and order, and agreed to abide by and comply with them in
every detail. '
Preliminary to the selection of an official county depository for the biennium 1953-54, and in
accordance with the provisions of Article 2544, at esq., of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, as
emended, by unanimous vote the Court authorised the County Judge to advertise for bids from interested
banks by publication of the following notice in the Bryan Daily Eagle once each week for three weeks prior
to the regular February meeting of the Court,
"NOTICE TO BIDDERS FOR COUNTY DEPOSITORY,
"Notice is hereby given that Brazos County will receive bids up to
ten o'clock a.m., an Monday, February 9, 1953, for a depository fbr
the biennium of 1953-54, for official county4unde, including those
of the common school districts.
"All funds must be protected by bonds and pledgee of cash or securi-
ties, as well as by provisions of the Federal Deposit Insurance
Corporation.
■All bids must be accompanied by certified check payable to the
Commissioners' Court of Brazos County, Texas, fbr not less than one-
half of one per cent of the county revenue for the year of 1952,
• which shall be forfeited if the successful bidder does not enter
into the necessary bonds and-pledgee of cash or securities.
"Bide will be publicly opened and considered at the time specified
and Brazos County reserves the right to reject any or all bids. "

On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay $50.00 from the General
Fund to the County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas, to be used in deferring Brazos County's
'pro rata part of expenses to be incurred on behalf of the several counties of Texas.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay all bills lkhich have

been properly filed and approved, for which budgeted forms are available.
Came on to be considered and acted upon the matter of setting salaries, approving fonds, adjust-
ing items and putting into effect the Annual Budget for the calendar year 1953•

lCounty Judge Ware brought up the matter of salary for the County Auditor, which has heretofore
been fixed at $4,500.00 par annum. He reported to the Court that District Judge W. S. Berton had re-

appointed F.J. Vitopil to this position and ordered his salary fixed at $4,500.00 per annum, which is

the amount of compensation heretofore fixed by the District Judge and paid to the Auditor. Judge Ware

suggested that this salary be again fixed at $4,500.00 in accordance with the order of the District Judge
which heretofore has been,certified to'the Commissioners' Court according to certificate of P. T. Cole,

Alter the foregoing changes and adjustments had been made, including the three re-stated, tWe,
the 1953 total budgeted expenditures were found to amount to $500,965.00, or $4,665.00 more than the
$496,300.00 indicated in the budget heretofore passed upon. The revised and re-adjusted budget now
calling for the total expenditures of $500,965.00 as heretofore officially agreed upon was ordered
placed in effect for the fiscal year 1953, and which is summarised as follower
