Also present for the conference which followed was Mr. James E. Poore,of College Station, who is in charge of predatory animal control for the Texas Wild Life Service for a district in which Brazos County is located. After a detailed discussion and consideration of the prevalence of the lobo or timber wolf in the Kurten area with the possibility of the spreading of this predatory animal to other portions of the County, Commissioner Conrad moved the adoption of the following resolutions .That from and after this date Brazos County, Texas, pay from its General Fund a bounty of twenty dollars ($20.00) each for all lobo or timber wolvde (Canis lupus) killed within the borders of Brazos County, Texas, with payment to,be authorized by the County Judge upon a written statement signed by the party killing the animal or animals and with the written certificate of approval thereon by the Deputy State Game Warden currently assigned to Brazos County. The fordgoing motion was seconded by Commissioner Nolan ard'thereafter adopted by the affirmative votes of Commissioners Conrad and Nolan and County Judge Ware, with Commissioner Burlin'' voting "No". Whereupon the Court adjourned. " The principal purpose of this meeting was to hold public hearing upon the Brazos County y budget proposed for the year 1953, as submitted to the Court by the County Judge on July 31, 1952, and according to notices of hearing thereon fixed by the Court on that date and which notices have hereto- ® r\ fore been published for three consecutive weeks in both the Bryan Daily Eagle and the Bryan Daily News.' _ After full and complete discussion of the proposed budget in detail, item by item, and fol- lowing explanations by the County Judge and the Commissioners, and after all citizens present had been heard as fully'as they desired to speak, a motion was made by Commissioner Porterfield that the salary, of the County Auditor, shown in the schedule of the General Fund on Page 11 of the budget, be reduced • from $4,500.00 to $3,600.00 per annum. This motion was seconded by Ccamtiissioner Burlin and adopted by ~ the affirmative votes of the four Commissioners, with County Judge Ware voting No., . Came on to be considered the matter of Brazos County allowing discounts on ad valorem taxes h for the tax year beginning October 1, 1952, which might be paid in advance, as .authorized by Article ` 7255b, Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, as amended by Acts of the Forty-Sixth Legislature, 1939, Page ' 654, Paragraph 11 and it being the opinion of all members of the Court that ta li x re ef is more equitable " and uniform when given in the form of reduction in rate, which has been the practice of this Court when- ever possible, on motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted that the provision of • ' said law be not adopted and that Brazos County decline to exercise its option to allow such discounts 1 on county taxes. i r There being no further business, the Court adjourned. .
