Upon the recommendation of the County Judge and upon motion duly seconded and adopted with '
the approval of all members, it was voted to pay from the County Farm-to-Market Road Fund the sum of
$165.00 to the Executive Committee for the Defense of the Crimes County lawsuit attacking the validity
of Section 1-A of Article 8, of the Constitution of Texas, as sa now pending in Cause No. 18,666 on the

docket'of the District Court of Grimes County, Texas; and at the same time authorized Brasov County to

actively participate in this litigation as a
party defendatd..

The Court organized as a Board of Equalisation of Brazos County, and each of the members
took the required statutory oath and as a County Board of Equalization recessed until nine o'clock a. m.'

Commissioner Porterfield asbed the Court to authorise him to secure bids which would be do-
livered to and considered by the Commissioners Court at its next regular meeting, for the black-topping
of approximately A miles of the Smetans-Fountain Switch County Public Road, with the distinct under-

such expense, if incurred, mould be paid from funds available to Precinct Nos 3* Whereupon,
motion was made, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, by which Commissioner Porterfield's regneat was
gnvented and he was authorised to secure the bide for delivery to and consideration of the whole Court at

its next regular meeting.

The Court authorised the cash payment of $217.00 from the fencing itex in the Road and Bridge
budget to Gerald W. Lott of Navasota, Grimes County, Texas, for a full and complete release and discharge
from any and all liability for fencing and otherwise enclosing highway right-of-way on Brazos County land
acquired from him for State Highway by Deed dated July 13, 1946, and duly recorded in Volume 125, page
158, of the Brazos County Deed Records, and also the additional land for the same State Highway suibsequentl
aognired by eondemnatloni said cash consideration being the estimated actual cost of the construction of
the fencing which Brazos County had heretotbre contracted to erect.

on motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to set the July Fourth Holiday so
as to include the half day of Saturday, July 5, 1952.

County Superintendent W. 0. Bunting appeared before the Court and asisd that the County provide the
County Superintendent's office in the Courthouse with additional lighting fixtures for the better lighting
of his office. Whereupon on motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court authorised Mr. BcatiM
to secure bids for the proposed lighting fixtures and their installation and present than to the Court 1br
further consideration and action. '

On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to authorize the County Auditor

to secure bide for the installation of two ordinary cloth awnings with metal braces to be installed on the
west windows of the office occupied by the County Treasurer and the County Service Officer, with the under-
standing that such bide would be presented to the Court for further consideration and action.
