The report of Mrs. Jewel Covington, County Treasurer, of all money received and disbursed by
Brazos County for the quarter beginning October 1, 1951, and ending December 31, 1951, was received and
approved.
Mr. P. P. Prescott of Millican, appeared before the Court and presented the fbllaring petition
with reference to the local county road heretofore designated as the Chenault, Road:
"Xillicm , Texas, January 10, 1952.

"Me, the undersigned, being the owners and/or Lessors of the lands lying north of
the P. P. Prescott 118-acre tract in the J. Herrera and A. Millican Slav®s in Brazos
County, Texas, as abut the road leading to Farm-to-Market Road from Millican to State
Highway No. 6, do agree that the said P. P. Prescott may place and maintain a gate across
said road at the SOUTH LINE OF his said 118-acre tract or cattle guarld.

Upon motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to classify the above
mentioned Chenault local road as belonging to the third-class of public county roads.
Cams on to be considered and acted upon, the matter of setting the salaries, apportioning !Undo,

and otherwise putting into effect the budget heretofore prepared for the year 1952.
Whereupon, a motion was made, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, by ehich the Court, v6te4
to increase from $10,000.00 to $2u,000.00 the Road and Bridge Fund item designated as purchase of New

Road Machinery and Equipment, and revise the language thereof so as to ineluds costs of replacement alnp

repair of existing equipment and machinery.

Further considering the Road and Bridge Fund, motion was duly made !end properly seconded, tr

nieh the salaries of the four County Commissioner@ would be increased from $3125.00 to $3750.00 per annual

the wages of the two mechanics be increased from #2475.00 to #2700.00 each; the caretaker's ages increased
from #1650.00 to #1800.00 per annum. The County Judge opposed the motion insofar as it related to the irr,

crease of salaries for the four County Commissioners, and stated as his reason therefor that such an in-
crease was not legally authorized or justified; that the law (Article 2350) authorized the County Comee
missioners salaries at $3000.00 each per annum where the assessed valuations amounted to 2211.000.000_00-

In the Had and Bridge Fund as the County Commiseloners Operating Budget for the year 1952 and included
within the total of the Road and Bridge Fund herainbefors listed. On motion duly seconded and unanimously
adopted, it was voted to allocate this $115,000.00 by percentages and amounts to the four Precincts as

On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted,. tar Court voted further to allocate to the
several precincts in equal amounts of $5,000.00 cache the $20,000.00 listed in the Road and Bridge fund

On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted,-the Court voted to pay-all bills which had been
properly filed and approved and for which budgeted funds are available.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court authorised the County Auditor to

vertise for bide to be received up to ten o'clock a. m. on January 26, 1952, for sale by the County of
seven used motor vehicles described in detail in the following notices
