Garrett, Deputy State Highway Engineer. • HUM NO. 30159 VWREAS, in BBAWS ODUNTY, the appropriate County officials and the Tow Highway Do- partment, in cooperation with each other, have selected for improvement the following roadet From State 21 at Bryan Northwest to Old San Antonio rood, a distance of approximately 7.1 milsep From Loop 158 in Bryan Southwest to road intersection, a distance of appremdmately 4.8 miles. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS ORDERED that the above described roads be designated as Fans-to-Karket Roads subject to their eligibility for inclusion in the Federal Aid Secondary System and improved to pro- vide two-lane dustless surfaces, subject to the condition that Brazos County will furnish all required right-of-way free of coat to the State. Upon acceptance by the County and fulfillment of the conditions of this Urder, the State Highway Engineer is directed to proceed with construction in the most feasible and economical manner, and to assume the roads for maintenance upon completion of construction. Dear Judge Waret You were recently furnished with the Highway Commission Minute for the designation of two new Farm-to-Market Roads in Brasoe County. For your information, I wish to advise you that this is only a partial Program and it is my recommendation that you continue to hold the $20,000.00 in escrow that you offered to the Highway Commission, so that it can be taken into consideration at the time the Program for the Colson- Brieooe Bill funds are considered. We regret very much that at this time we cannot see our way clear to authorise this project, in that our District Engineer estates that the project would cost $30,000.00, which is 510,000.00 in additional to the amount you offered, but it is our opinion that the project you submitted is worthy of inclusion in the Farm Highway System. We wish to assure you that your presentation is still being considered and I feel sure that at the proper time and as soon as finances will per- mit, the Hij:tway Commission will act favorably on the same. Garrett, Deputy State Highway Engineer. ■ On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to accept the Status pro- posal for the construction of State Farm-to-Market Roads on the Sand Point county road from intersection of State Highway 21 northwest of Bryan, to the Old San Antonio road, a distance of seven and one-tenths miles and the Leonard Schoolhouse Road from Loop 158 in Bryan (intersection of West 25th Street and Bryan Avenue), four and eight-tenths miles in a southwesterly direction to the intersection of the Silver Hill Road. It was also unanimously voted to hold in escrow the $20,000.00 cash which had heretofore been offered by the County to the State as part of the cost of constructing a state-farm-to-market high- way from State Highway 21 at Kurten in a westerly direction approximately five miles to the intersection of the Tabor-Edge County Road; with the understanding, however, that this matter be held in abeyance only , rir 0 t 1 ' ~ 1 REGULAR MEETING, MONDAY, JUNE 11, 1951 I until the State Highway Department has concluded its current program for use of the funds to be made r` available by the new Colson-Briscoe legislative act. Messrs. McNeill Drumwright, C. W. Fisler, H. L. Whitley, 'and R. L. Foster appeared before ,r1P the Court as a committee from the Bryan Chamber of Commerce and requested that the Court provide the • funds with which an Assistant County Agricultural Agent could be employed. Members of the committee cited many reasons for the employment of an Assistant County Agent and discussed the entire matter in r l detail with the members of the Court.
