Raymond A. Nolan, Commissioner, Precinct No. 1;
William A. Conrad, Commissioner, Precinct No. 2;
Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner, Prdcinc t No. 3; and
Newton Burlin, Commissioner, Precinct No.
The purpose of the meeting was to consider and act upon the following communication from
the Texas State Highway Department through Nlr. John E. Blair, District Engineer of Bryan:
"Bryan, Texas,
October 13, 1950.
Honorable A. S. Ware,
County Judge, Brazos County,
Bryan, Texas.
Dear Judge lr~are:
We are ready to begin the next program of Farm Roads under the Federal Aid Act, and will
need the advice and assistance of the counties, as in previous programs.
Attached are two copies of your county map, and I wish you would have your Court meet and
indicate in red pencil on one copy of this map your preference as to the first project that
should be constructed in your county.
This program covers a period of two years, and tY~e total money available under this Act
will be sufficient, I think, to provide only one small project in each county.
Please let me have this map back as soon as possible, and in any case not later than
November 10. It will be necessary to have it by that time in order that the work in your County
can be included.

After detailed discussion and consideration for several hours a motion was made and
duly seconded that the Court designate road projects as follows and in the order given:
~ 1. The Sandy Point Road from the city limits of Bryan to the Old San Antonio Road, a dis-
tance of seven and one-tenth (7-1/10) miles, to be designated as Project No. 1;
2. The Leonard Schoolhouse Road from the city limits of Bryan to the Silver Hi11 Road, a
distance of approximately five (5) miles, to be designated as Project No. Two;
3. The County Road running westward from State Highway No. 21 at Kurten to the intersection
of the Tabor-Edge Road, a distance of approximately five (5) miles, ~ to be designated as Project No.
Three; with the understanding, however, that if the State of Texas does not now accept this project, the
County black-top and surface this road, and that for this .purpose the Court commits and obligates itself
to use the item of X20,000.00 in the Road and Bridge Fund 'budget for the calendar year of 1951, or so
' much thereof as may be necessary. ~
The foregoing motion was adopted by a vote of four-to-one, with affirmative votes being cast
by Commissioners Conrad, Porterfield, and Burlin, and County Judge Ware, with Commissioner Nolan voting No.
The County Judge was requested to return the map to Mr. Blair with a statement of the Court's
action in the premises and to have another copy of the marked map incorporated in the minutes of this
meeting.

Sheriff J. If. Hamilton appeared before the Court and explained in detail that the 1949 Chevrolet
automobile, Motor No. GAA 102206, covered by Certificate of Title No. 5468831, now being used by him
officially, is in poor mechanical condition and requiring increasingly expensive repairs and replacements
and that it would immediately require another heavy repair bill. He thereupon delivered to the Court
the following bids from local automobile dealers for replacement of this used automobile: 5
