YITOPIL 1 County Auditor Brazos County, Taxae.e The Court received, considered and accepted the 1949 Annual Audit Report of Brazos County as submitted by County Auditor F. J. Yitopil on February 9, 1950, accompanied by the following letter of ' transmittal: "Bryan, Texas, January 27, 1950. - '•rt' Honorable Commissioners Court, ' Brazos County, Bryan, Texas. Gentlemen: ra Submitted'herewith to my official audit report and statement of the financial condition of Brazos County for the calendar year ended December 31, 1949. As this report indicates, I find that all moneys and fees accruing to the County and collected by its various i officials and employees were properly accounted for " paid over to the County Treasurer an the law requires, and that these items have been deposited in the official county . depository bank to the credit of the various county funds. The County's outstanding bonded indebtedness was reduced $29,000.00 during 1949 by the payment and retirement of that amount of outstanding bonds, so that with the end of the calendar year the gross indebtedness of the County amounted to $726,000.00. Of this latter total the State of Texas, under the terms of existing laws, will hasume and pay off as its ' portion a total of $314,736.50, thus leaving a not balance of $411,262.50 to be paid from { County funds. 1 Assessed valuations have again shown a substantial increase although the Board of Equalization has not changed valuations except to adjust apparent inequities in some cases. The total assessed valuations for county purposes for the tax year of 1949-50 webs $15,566,081.75, or an increase over the previous year of $935,649.45. It is very gratifying to note that tax t„ I+?t:'valuations are continuing to show substantial increases in Brazos County, thus reflecting normal development and growth of the community. During the year 10,85D motor vehicles were registered as compared with 9,706 for 1948. The gross revenues for 1949 amounted to $152,599.85, with a net allocation to the Road and Bridge Fund of $97,490.45. The 1949 figure was $5,725.08 in excess of the $91,765.37 received by the County for 1948. Expenditures of all fads were held well within income and no budget allowances were overrun except for the Road and Bridge Fund. This exception was occasioned by the construction of the a, Steep Hollow Faro-to-Market Road (exteneion,of Farm Highway No. 158). It is not anticipated that this occurrence will be repeated. The aggregate cash balances on hand to the credit of the County on December 31, 1949, was $131,332.07, whichwas a decrease of only $5,692.62 below the balance'at the end,of•the prior year. Crain, resident State Highway Engineer, had submitted to him an estimate of the coat of hard-surface topping 24 feet wide and 1000 feet in length on the west and of the county public road locally known as the Villa Marie Road, beginning at Texas State Highway No. 6 and running eastward and northward a distance of 1000 feet. Mr. Burlin further reported that Mr. Jack Parr, the owner and operator of the Sky-Way Drive-In Theater situated alongside said road, had agreed to pay $300.00 of the cost of this road repair and that under these circumstances he wished the Court to authorize him to proceed with the work, with the understanding that the other $300.00 of the estimated cost thereof would be paid from funds allocated to Precinct No. 4. On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, Commissioner Burlin's request was approved and he was authorised to proceed with the work ae out- lined. On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court agreed to pay all bills Which had bean properly filed and approved and for which budgeted funds are available.
