I~]EREAS, Federal Funds made available by the Postwar Hi.way Act Of 19&A for
the oonstructim of roads in the category of Secondary, Feeder or Farm-remarker
have been expended or obligated for construction end no additiom 1 funds in such
category are available and
I~[E~EAS, no additional funds on the National or State level have been allocate~
for the expansion of the program of construction of Secondary, Feeder or Farm-to-
Market Roads, and
WPEREAS, thc Highway Commission has numerous requests from officials end citizens
from all sections of the State for the designation, construction end m~inten~oe of
Farm-to-Market Roads~ and
wl~q~.~, the H~hwar Commlssioa ia most sympethatic to tha read sueda of t~a State
and to the continued rsquaats of its officials sM citizenship and recognizes the
value of such omstruotion to the welfare of the State, and in line with tho provisio2~
of Senate Bill No. 177, ~Oth ~egialature, 1Oh?, does hereby pledge its assistance
toward such construction to tho extent of funds w~ioh may be or may become available
by the adoption of the following policy=
The Department will supplement County or local funds for the construction of
Saaondary or Farm-to-Market Roads and wiLl maintala such roads after construction sub-
Jest to the following conditions:
{1) The roads must oom~ly with tho standards of selection of the Department fei'
t~affio service Juatlfyi~ its i-.lusion in the State maintained system of roads.
(2) ?he County Commissioners Court will furnlsh all requi~ed rift-of-war free
· f cost to the State and will turn over to the Department funds to pay for ?~% of
the ree~ eonntrustion cost to previde a t~-lane, dustless road.
{3) The Department will furnish e~ineering free of cost to the County amd will
aoastruot the road and.provide for its future maintenance.
{~) Due to lA'ired f~nmses such cooperative Farm-to-Market Road construution
will be limited to a total construction cost of not to exceed $100,000.00 per oal-
,~;~:,..-elldar year in · County.
.,, W~EREAS, in Brazes County, the County acting through its aonstitutad authorities
has requastea assistance in the aonatruotion and maintenance of a road 'extending from
Farm-to-Markst Road 1~8 approximately 2 miles east of Bryan northeast to Steep ~oll~w
Community, a distance of approximately 2.~ miles] and
I~]REAS, the County has offered financial assistance in the improvement of this
road un, er the County-State Cooperative Plan of the Highway Commission; an~
~IEI~AS, an analysis of the trellis service to be rendered by the road indicates
& Justification for ~te inclusion in the State maintained system of roads.

dustless, two-lane surface, will furnish engineering free of cost to the County
