The Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Texas, met in regular session in the of floe
of the County Judge at the Courthouse in Bryan. Texas, at ten o'clock a. m., on Monday, Deoe

M that the Brazos Motor Company of Bryan, Texas, had submitted a gross bid 'of- $7,991.52 for
two new Studebaker two-ton trucks and three new Studebaker pink-up trucks, which was the
lowest and beat bid received, being $1947.96 for each of the two-ton trucks and $1365.20 es
for the one-half ton piok-up trucks; and that the said Brazos Motor Company had also submit
the lowest and beat bid on the two flat dump beds with steel floors for the two-ton trucks,
H as called for in the request for bide, at a price of $249.00 each.
Whereupon a motion was made, duly seconded and unanimously adopted, that the Court

In order to provide the official funds beyond the 1949,budgeted, amounts which
will be required for payment of the road machinery and equipment this day oontracted for,
the Court voted to issue not to exceed $40,000.00 in machinery warrants and to give notioe
of such intention according to •the,follcwing statement which is hereby ordered to be pub-
lished three times in the Bryan Daily Eagle and also three times in the Bryan News:
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ISSUE MACHINERY WARRANTS:
Notice is hereby given by the Commissioners Court of Brazos County, Texas, of
its intention to issue road machinery warrants, the proceeds of which are to be
used for the purchase of road machinery and equipment contracted to be purchased by
said Court at its regular meeting held in the City of Bryan, Brazos County, Texas, on
Monday, December 13, 1948, upon onen comoetitive bids which were found 'to be the lowest
best and most advantageous to Brazos County,. and which bide had been publicly advertised
for by written notices and specifications published in advance for three consecutive
weeks in the Bryan Daily Eagle on November 13, November 20, and November 27, 1948, and
also published in the Bryan Weekly News on November 18,Nrnrember 25, and December 2, 1948,
Final action for the issuance and delivery of the proposed warrants will be taken
by the Commissioners Court of Brazos County; Texas, at its regular meeting on Monday,
January 10, 1949, at its usual meeting-plane in the Courthouse of said county, in Bryan,
Texas.
Said warrants will be for a total of $40,000.00, dated January 15, 1949.
$20,000.00 of the said prinoipal maturing on or before May 1. 1950, and $20,000.00
maturing on or before Lay 1, 1951; all of said nrincipal bearing interest from date

Whereupon it was found and declared by the Court that the proposition, offered by

the Corbusier Chevrolet Company of Bryan, Texas, to furnish a new Fleetline two-door sedan
for a cash payment of 0450.00 and the trade-in of the Ford 1947 2-door automobile,`Motor
No. 799A 1452341, was the best and most advantageous to the County and should bee aocepted.
Whereupon motion was fide, duly a econded and unanimously adopted that the Sheriff be auth-
orized to complete the transaction by exchanging the used Ford 1947 2-door automobile for
the new Fleetline two-door Chevrolet sedan and paying a cash difference of $450.00 from.-
the Officers Salary Fund.

r i In BRAZOS COUNTY a FARM TO MARKET ROAD from U. S. 190, north of Bryan
north to Tabor, a stance of approximately .0 miles, is hereby designated
- subject to the concurrence of the Public Roads Administration and subject to
the condition that Brazos County will furnish all required right-of-way free
of cost to the State.
Upon fulfillment of the conditions of this Order, the State Highway
1 Engineer,is directed to Droceed with the preparation of plans for oonritruotion,
at an estimated cost of 169,700.00, and to assume the road for maintelance
upon completion of constriction.

158 from Bryan to-road intersection south-
east of Harvey, a distance of approximately 10.0
miles, the State Highway Engineer is directed to
proceed with the work of surfacing at an estimated
cost of $30,000.00 utilizing State r^orces and funds
from the Fame Highway account.

Whereupon, a motion was made, seconded and unanimously adopted by which the Court.
voted to accept the foregoing provisions of State Highway Department Vinute•No. 25664, and'
to guarantee the no oessary right-of-way for the Farm-to-Market Road from Bryan northward

to Tabor, a distance of approximately nine miles, and to urgently request the Highway
officials to initiate work on improving this road at the earliest possible moment.
Mr. Wallace Davis Burley of Bryan appeared in person and discussed with members
of the Court his application for the position of Brazos County Veterans Service Officer,
as he had informally made it some weeks app.' After detailed discussion of the matter,
the motion was made, seconded and unanimously adopted by *ich Mr. Burley was nominated to
the posi,tion of Brazoa County Veterans Servioe,Officer, subject to later confirmation end
actual appointment es soon.as he may.secure and exhibit do the Court official certificate

o'olook p. m., on Tuesday,, December 14, 1948, In the office of the County Judge of Brazos
County, Texas, with the follovAng members present:

N. R. Burkhalter, Commissioner, Precinot No. 1;
William A. Conrad, Commissioner, Precinct No. 2;
Clyde J. Porterfield, Commissioner, Precinct No. 3; and
Sewton Burlin, Commissioner, Precinct No. 4.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to transfer e
seventy-foot-span steel and wooden bridge from its present location on Carter's Creek on
the route of new State Faun to Market Highw4y No. 158 to a location on Mathis Branch on
the Old White Tap County Road on the boundary line between Precincts Noe. 2 and 4;-with
the distinct understanding, however, that any expense of relocation or removal of such
structure shall be born by Precincts Nos. 2 and 4.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to approve and
ratify payment of the following items from the General Fund:
