X find that all the mmaeys and fees ~olleoted by various officials were
~roporly accounted fbr and were paid'over' to the county Treasurer and properly
.deposit~e~ in the county al?psaltery,to the o~edit of the proper official funds. . ~,
The outstanding, principal of the County's bonded indebtedness was red.ed
$3~,000.00 durins 1947 by the payment and retirement of that amount of bon~
leaving the total bonded indebtedness ,at ~?~3,000.00, in spite of the feet
, the County was o~mpelled to issu~ ~18-,000.00 of. new bonds during the year to re-
pair damages to roads and bridges o~oasioned by the torrential rains during the month
of August., Of the ~753,000.00 total bonded indebtedness_the State of Texas has '-
, assumed ~333,225.50, thus leaving a net',balance of~419,~7~.~0, which I am oertala
the County will have to pay as its pert of such indebtedness. '-~
During'the year the County called in and paid off the last ~2,000.00 of the '
Brazes County Amprovement ~istriot ~o. 1 (Levee)bonds issued in 1909. It ia very
gratifying to repor~ that this indebtedness was completely retired about two years
before the maturity of the last bonds. , 'A'he taxpayers ia the ~evee District will
' ' also ~e highly pleased to know that because of this payment of the last brads they
will be relieved ,of the payment of the levee tax heretofore collected at the rate
of $1.00 par ~100.00 valuation of property within the ~lstriot. -':
Assessed valuations for t-ax purposes for 19~? amounted to ~1~,826,~93.12, aa :
compared with the 19~6 total of ~12,~1~.345.72. This iS an increase for the year
of $1,311,147.40, indicating a substantial gx~owth of the community.
Expenditures of all classifications for 19~? were well within the income and "'
resources of the county, aa evidenced by the fast that the aggregate cash balances
in all funds at the close of the year amounted to ~111,196.90, and all funds were
strictly on a cash basis.
The financial condition of the Oounty is A-plus, and in ~y opinion ~razos
County is being admimistered in an economical end businesslike ,.muner. '
'l'he net debt ratio was '5.18 for th~ year and the ~ounty continued to enjoy
the highest type of credit rating in the financial world. As evidence of this, X ,~j
need only refer to the fact that the small bond issue of 19~? bears interest at
the rate of 1-1//~ par cent per annum, which is the lowest interest rate in the h~s-
', tory of the County and one of the lowest rates in the State of Texas.
! wish to expre'ss my appreciation to the members of the Commissioners, Oourt
end to all other county and precinct c~ficials for their assistance and cooperation
during the year, and to assure you o~ my pleasure' at beAng able to work with you.
Yours very truly,
F. ~. VITOPIL

The members of the Court noted with extreme satisfaction that ~r. ¥1topil had
found all of the financial affairs of the County in good she ,pa sad that t~ha various
were functioning in a proper manner. The Court also complimented, Mr. Vi, topil upon the neet-
~ea and completeness of his report and the character of his work as reflected thereby.
On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to allocete to
Precinct No. 2, of which Mr., William A. C~nrad is the Commissioner, the OMC 1940 1/2-ton
p~akup truek,'~tor ~o. A-228~0017, which had heretofore been consisted as available,for
sale, and in lieu of such a sale and upon the suggestion of Ccmminalonur Conrad, the Court
further voted unanimously that ~500.00 cash 'of the funds heretofore allo~ated to Precinct ~o~
2, be transferred to the R~ad Machinery and Equipment Fun~.
The County ~udge laid before the Court a communication and outlined of road eng-
ineering work for Bnazce County as submitted by Mr. C. C. Todd, ~r., now a resident of wsoo,
Texas, u~der date of February 2~, 19~8. The members of the Court showed considerable int-'
crest in the proposals of Mr. Todd and l~dioated a continuing interest therein, but for the
present time agreed unamimously to take no action in connection with this matter.
0a motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, the Court voted to pay all bills
which ~ba~ been properly filed an~ approved and for which budgeted funds are available.
Whereupon the Court adJotmned.
