The purpose of this s~cial meeting was to hold public h~rl~s upon the Brazos
Co~ty budget proposed for the y~r 1948, as s~tted to the Court by the Oounty Ju~e and
the Co~ty Auditor on July 14, 1947, and accordin~ ~ notices of h~ring thereon es fixed by
the Co~t on July 15, 1947, and w~ch notices have heretofore been publish~ for three con-
secutive weeks in bot~ the Bryan ~ily Eagle and the Bry~ Weekly News.
After discussion of the proposed budget in detail, item by item, and following ex-
planations by ~he Co~ty J~dge, the County Auditor, and the Oo~issioners, and after ell
citizens present who desired to spe~ had been hea~, and there being no obJ'ections to
items in' said budget; on motion o'f Co~lssioner Porterfield, seconded by C~issioner B~lin,
~ unanimously adopted, t~ 'O~rt voted to accept and approve the budget as sub,bred.'
The Cou~t also ~imously voted ~o fix and levy occupa~ion taxes for Brazos
at one-hal~ (1/2) of the'rates levied by the State. of ~xas, and to'~,fix and levy the Co~ty
poll tax' at'twenty-%ive (25~) cents per eli2ible person' for the year
