It' IS fully recognized that the bait materials herein requested include a poison dangerous

In consideration of the receipt of bait materials from the Federal Government, or use
• of those now in County storage, the County specifically assumes full responsibility and
agrees to: t;
1. Provide the County Leader and furnish him with the necessary office facilities and III ~y..;.
clerical help and require the County Leader to kepP and submit accurate records of Bait tl ~tii•'f
Materials received, stored, mixed and issued to farmers. 2. Authorize the County Leader to requisition bait materials through the State Leader as needed. Furnish transportation for less-than-carload lots of bran requisitioned by the
State Leader either from established Federal ware-houses in Texas or from other Federal
sources. Pay for bait materials ordered directly from vendors rather than by regular
-requisition through State Leader..'
3. Supply and maintain adequate, safe storage for bait materials and protect bait
materials while in storage.
i Provide labor and equipment to unload, locally transport, stare and mix bait materiels
in accordance with accepted standards. It is understood that the Federal Government reserves)
the right to remove materials from the county or to refuse new materials if the county varies
from the accepted bait formula.;

' 5. Restrict shipments to one central point wherever possible.
6. Assume demurrage charges, if bait materials requisitioned by the County Leader
* are not unloaded within the free time allowed by the railroads.

7. Assume charges and transportation costs for diversions made by the County Leader
F without prior authority from the Division of Grasshopper Control.
8. Conspicuously post at each mixing station all instruction and warning signs
furnished by the Federal Government. c
9. Issue bait materials to individuals only in the form of mixed bait. Require each
v individual who received mixed bait to sign a statement which releases the County, State, and i
} Federal Government from liability for damages arising from careless or improper use of bait.

10. Provided mired bait to farmers without charge for bait materials furnished to the
County by the U. S. Department of Agriculture. Where a service charge is found necessary
the County agrees that mixed bait shall be made available to farmers at a total coat not t0' E;
i exceed 250 per Back (approximately 80 pounds to wet bait) including the cost of the sack. If
I actual costs for unloading, locally transporting, storing, mixing, sacks, and sacking,
i exceed the amount of funds collected from the service charge, the legally constituted
E County governing board agrees to pay the difference out of funds appropriated by the county,
and that hinds or supplies on hand which heretofore have accumulated from charges made to
farmers will be currently expended for services in connection with transportation, sacks,

{ r 11. The County also agrees that bait or bait materials furnished to the County by the

tract in Zeno Phiillips Survey acquired from H. C. Pipkin at al, and extending a distance of
1365 feet from the -issouri-Paoifio Railroad right-of-way on the seat to the Southern-
Pacific Railroad right-of-way on the west. This deed was tendered to Brazos County without
cost and was accepted and ordered recorded. t

to be used in the Grand Jury room and cushions for Petit Jury chairs in Jury box, and that the " furniture in said Grand Jury room be-reoonditioned, and that said chairs remain in said Grand
i Jury room at all times, and we further recommend that a carpet runner of some durable material'
be pieced through the Court Room leading from the of floe of the District dlerk to the 'Office ^•r7

We further recommend that some provisions be made that will enable the Sheriff to ~
separate the Juveniles from the hardened criminals who may be incarcerated in the Jail. J'•

there were a total, of 25 votes oast in said electiont of which 19 were in favor of increasen
the tax and six were against such increase, or'-a majority of 13 votes in favor of the inorea
in the tax rate for local school maintenance purposes. Whereupon it'was officially found and
deolared.that the,propoeition of,inoreasing•the levy of local school maintenance tax from

Diatriot No. 9, Reliance, had been approxed at said election by a majority of 13 vosea. It
was therefore ordered by the Court that the new rate be certified and levied for the coming
tax year.

THE STATE OF TEXAS:
COUNTY OF BRAZOS:
WHEREAS, on the 22nd day of Uarch, A.D. 1946, there was presented to me a pet-
ition for an election in Brazos County Common School District No. 9, Reliance of Brazos
~County,.Texas, to determine whether or not a majority of the resident property taxpaying -
citizens who are qualified voters in said district, are in favor of increasing the local
school maintenance tax from fifty (500) cents to une dollar (41.00) on the 14100.00 valuation
of taxable property situated within said district;
Y=RF.AS, said petition bears the signatures of Lee 14elasky and thirty other per-
sons representing themselves as being qualified voters who are resident property taxpaying
citizens within said district, and said petition is otherwise in conformity with the laws
and
WHEREAS, it appears that Brazos County contains a population of 16,977, acoordiA

to the 1940 United States census, and furthermore'that said Common School District No. 9i has
heretofore been properly and legally established, and that 10 contains an area of 10.5 square'
Miles; and
WHEREAS, it appears that said Common School District No. 9 is now collecting
and using a local maintenance tax of 500 per 14100.00 valuation of taxable property within
said district;
NOW THEREFORE, I, A. S. Were, in my official capacity as County Judge of Brazos
County, Texas, in response to said petition, do hereby order that an election be held on
Saturday, April 6, 1946, at the Reliance church building in said Common Sohool District go.
9, to determine whether or not a majority of the resident property taxpaying citizens who
are legally qualified voters in such district desire to levy an additional local school
maintenance tax or increase the existing local school maintenance tax from 500 to 141.00 d
on the 0100.00 valuation of taxable property within said district, and to determine whether C
or not the Commissioners' Court of said County shall be•authorized to levy, assess, and colle
such increased local school maintenance tax; and

B. L. Hisinger is hereby appointed presiding officer of said election, and he
shall select two clerks to assist him in holding said election, and he shall within five
days after said election has been held mpke due return thereof to the Commissioners' Court
or Tals County, as is required by law for holding general elections.
All persons who are legally qualified voters of this State and of this County
and who are resident property taxpayers in said District shall be entitled to vote at said
election, and all voters who favor the proposition herein shall have written or printed on
their ballots the following;
"For increasing the levy of local school maintenance tax fro* fifty (500)
cents to one (81.00) dollar on the $100.00 valuation of taxable property within Brazos County
Common School District No. 9, Reliance"; and those opposed to such taxation shall have writtoi
or printed on their ballots the words;
"AGAINST increasing the levy of local soholl maintenance tax from fifty (500)
cents to one ($1.00) dollar on the 14100.00 valuation of taxable property within Brazos
County Common School District No. 9, Reliance." ;
