t6 me a petition for an eleation in Common School District No. 8, Steep Hollow, of
Brazos County,Texas, to determine Whether or not a majority of the resident property
taxpaying citizens ~o are qualified voters in said district, are in favor of increasing
the local school maintenance tax from fifty (50s} cents to seventy-five (?~o) cents on
the $100.00 valuation of taxable property situated within said district; and
¥,~KEAS, said petition bears the signatures of ~. A. Tobias and 25 other persons,
constituting a majority of the qualified voters who are resident property taxpaying
citizens within said district, and said petition is otherwise in conformity with the
law; and
~',H~.REAS, it appears that Brazos County contains a population of 26,9??, according
to the 1920 United States oensun, and furthermore that said C~,mon SoLool District No.S
has heretofore been properly and legally establish~d, and that it contains an area of
t 22.6 .square miles; and
