With further reference to ~he matter of a Brazes County Service ~ffioor for
returned veterans, the Court received a committee fr~n the Ear~ Graham Post No. 1~9 of the
American Legion at Bryan, consisting of M. C. Aikins, M. M. Er~kine, and Earl Parsons, who
reported that that organization had on the preceding Friday night voted 47 to 8 in favor
of indorsing Henry T. SchovaJsa for g~pointment by the Court to this office. The Court
received this report and advised the m~nbsrs of the tom, tree that it would consider the
information as indoreeme~t by tho local Post bf ~r. SehovaJsa, but that under the law, any
appointment could be made only after the presentation to the' Court of a certificate of
eligibility from the Texas Department of the American Legion. Inasmuch as ne s~ch oertifi-
oat~ of eligibility ~ad been filed' by Mr. SchovaJsa or any other applicant~ ~e'Court de-

of The County Treasurer im the courthouse, and tba-~ he ~e required to devote his entXre "
time ~o his official wor~,of accounting for the county, inolu~in~ the auditing of all bill's'
and claims, .payrolls and accounts, -nd also the ohgeking and verification of county
precinct officers' records, reports, and funds, and the necessary bookkeeping and c~her
financial records. It was further ordered that in addition to these duties, the CoUnty'
Accountant should also make weekly, monthly, and annual audits as ~ay be neos,ssary or re-
quired by ~he Court.
On motion duly seconded and ananimously adopted, the Court voted to pay all '
bills which have been filed and a~p~oved an~ for which funds are available, and with the
specific instruction and direction that no deficit or overdraft be permitted.
Whereupon, the COurt adjourned.
