FOR the purpose of discussing conservation work in the County witM reqpeot to the work ghe
oommissi'oners court expects to do relative to constructing rank dams under the purchase
order p~ogram. The following persons were present: ~. E. Weedon, H. C. S, eale, E. M. Francis
~oe T. Lockg, Tom Wortham.
Mr. Weedon had charge of the meeting and explained to the group that the Commissioners Court
had purchased equipment to construct dams, and it w~s their wishes that t~h local A.C.A.
office would route such equipment over the precincts to do this work.. Mr. Waedon further
stated that this was a big Job to do, inasmuch as there ~as only one machine to build &O0
dams in six months time; and under idea conditions we could only get a few tanks dug in
leach of the, precincts.
On May ~, 19&&, the County Committee met with the Community Committeeman and reviewed the
names of all producers over t~e county who intimated that they wanted a tank and after such
meeting we found that app~oaimately 95~ of the farmers listed needed a tank according to ·
respective community committeeman. Considerable discussion was made on the above Justifi-
cations as shown by the community committees' views; inasmuch as they represent their farmers
Mr. Seals and Mr. Francis stated that it would be humanly impossible to route the machinery
over the precinct where we could Justify ourselves in constructing s dam here and there.
The committees final decision was as foll~ws: That the County Committee will not be in a
position to route the machinery over the county as formerly anticipated;' Furthermore it ia
the wishes of this committee t', at the Commissioners Court attend to the routing of such
machinery. That the A.O.A.Offioe make available to the court all names of farmers in the ·
~'county who desire a dam, that is if the Court asks for such information. That pralaminary
surveys of each dam will be made in ample time prior to construction; and that a follow-
up will be made immediately for specifications in order for the oo~r~ as vgndor to receive
their money as early as possible. We will be more t~,an glad to cooperate with the oour~ on
this matter, and will meet with you at any time.
No further business the .meeting adjourned at 5 p.m.
