The Constitutional and. Statutory duty imposed upon,the County Attorney of Brazes County, prior to 1917, ~s the /nveatlgation and prosecution of all criminal eases of the ~rade of misdemeanor. ~n 1917 the office of Diatrlot Attorney for Brazes County wes abolished and the duties of the District Attorney were placed upon and required of the duly elected County Attorney of Brazes County. As County Attorney the present enoumbent is charged, not ably with the duty of investigating and prosecuting all misdemeanor oases, but he is the one officer authorize~ by the Constitution end Statutes to present offenses of the ~rade of felony to ~rand ;uriea~ drew Indlatmante in felony cases and bring into the Diatrint Court all felony proseeutlons.~ During the peat two years there has been a ~reat Increase Ln complaints end ~rant Jury tndlstments. The District Court of thin County has had a large number off oases on the docket the past two years. Explanation of this increase in crime ia brought about by several factors, one of which ia the concentration in this county of large numbers of transient people and where there is a congestion of people, there is an increase in law violations. ;ugenile delinquency is alee on the increase and all oases egatnst Juveniles are vestlssted and reported by the County Attorney of this County.
