Cmmm]ssioner Roy Danforth presented to the Court a petition fromM=. D. D. Constable of Precinct No. ~, dated December 29, 19~2, wherein he reviewed.tb~ fees of office and ex-officio compensation heretofore paid him and urged upon the Court an crease in ex-officio salary to ~7~.00 per month· Such an increase was vigorously opposed by the County ~udge, who stated that the Constable's earnings were limited only~by his activities, since he received all fees of office which he earned. After considerable discussion, however, it was agreed to make an increase in this ex-officio salary. On t~o recommendation of the County ~udga. who reported that the law required both the ~ustiee,~f the Peace and the Constable to be paid in like manner, it was agreed that the ex-officio' salaries of these two precinct officers be fixed at $600.00 each par annum· Whereupon', On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, it was voted to allow ex-officio salaries to the named precinct officers as follows: ~ustice of the Pe~ce of Precinct No. A, at Bryan .b. 1.. ...... $600.00 ~onstable of Precinct flo. ~, at Bryan, .............. $600.00, to be paid from the General Fund; and public hearing on these two items is hereby set, for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, ~anuary 2~, 19~3, but it is strictly provided that the, ~ounty Clerk or dlsbursir~ officer of the County shall make no payment of ex-offiCio salarJ for a given month until and unless the necessary monthly report of fees for the'pre,geedins calendar month has been filed for the attention of the ~ommissionera' Court· On motion duly seconded and unanimously adopted, it was voted to apportion the $~2,000.00 provided in the budget for 19~3 as precinct operating costs, to the four pre- oinots in the following percentages and respective amounts: ,.
