Upon motion duly made and unanimously adopted, it was voted to allot from the Rlgh.t.
of-Way Fund the sum of $900.00 to be used for improvdn~ and gravelling the Count~ r~ad
known as tho Goodson Bend road situated in Commissioner's l~eoinot No. 3 in the visinity o~
the new Army Airport, and which read ia now being developed and used in lieu of County
roads which are bei~ closed end discontinued.
Tho following resolution was unanimously adopted by the Court:
"Whereas, in view of the war efforts of the Nation end of tho r~quirement8 being made
upon B~azos County and all other minioipalities in Texas, and in the belief that the worh,
situation is such that there no lo. er exists particular need for sueh assistance; and
ewe, REA~, there ia considerable stress being placed upon Brazes County Jot fr. eightin~
and drayage of materials to and from the central warehouses to Bryan, which results in
difficulty to the County in its efforts to conserve rubber and wear and tear, on motor
vehicles. '-
#Now therefore be it resolved t,ha%he Commissioners' Court of Brazes, County,Texas,
in regular session in the Court House at Bryan,Texas, on Monday, October 12, 1942.
request the Texas State Department of lmubllo Welfare that the surplus commodity distribu-
tion be, discontinued in Brazes County and that the County ;udgo of Brazes County be requested
to notify the authorities thereby concerned of this action.'

, It is our unanimous conviction that this action is going to seriously affect the
welfare, health and educational opportunities of every child in the rural schools. It
would not have been possible to operate them without the food supplied from Surplus
COmmOdities, end it would not be possible for hundreds of children to have food,, which
contributes to their health and ability and ~s an edknowledged part'of our National
Defense Program. We feel that the future citizenship of this country is vitally affected
end we want to go on record v~icing our feelings on this measure and since no school
teacher or trustee known to us was consulted by a Commtssioner: feel that, we claim an
opportunity to present our views, end our needs to the court. ,

We, the Grand Jury, duly organized and impaneled at the September Term, A.D. 19~2,
of said Court, beg leave to make this our final report to the Court on this the 2?th
day of October, A.D. 19~2, and respectfully ask that we now be finally discharged.
We report to the Court that during this session we have made diligent inquiry into
all violations and alleged violations of the Criminal Laws of this State and County. as
a result of our work, we have returned into Court fifteen felony indictments.
We further report to the Court that in view of the war efforts of the }~tion and
of the requirements being made upon ~razos Vounty, the ~ity of Bryan, and all other
,municipalities in Texas, that it is our belief that the work situation is such that
th'ere no longer exists particular need for any assistance, participation or sponsoring
of any Federal or State relief organizations. We therefore unanimously endorse the ac-
? ' tion of the Commissioner's Court of Brazos County and the Commission of the Glty of Bryan
.,.i. in, dl~ontinuing the sponsorship of the distribution of Surplus Commodities and the
'i', continuano® of, other relief agencies in Brazos County. We further recommend that in
~t the~future no s~lar agencies be sponsored ~y the City of Bryan or ~razos County.
It is further recognized that there is now and always will be some need for local
,¢~el~ef a~d, that~ this be left to the sound descretlon of the Commission of the City of
